~2 Weeks Later~
The day had finally come, where I figure out who I'm partnered with. Over the course of these two weeks I've had my name selected by five different guys, but magically Lysander got me the most. Recently, we've been hanging out a lot whether he picked my name or not, and I always had the strange feeling someone was watching me from a distance.
Everyone gathered in the auditorium, ready to find out. Ashleigh, and Penelope sat next to me even though they technically weren't supposed to. So far, they're the only people I know besides the twins, and Zaiden. Yet, I've only seen Zaiden around campus once since we met.
I slouched down, and looked at Ashleigh, as she continued her conversation with Penelope. Occasionally, I would pitch in, but the topic of supernaturals didn't really perk my interests.
"It's not like you can ignore it, Nikolina. You are one of us." Penelope said, and I glared up at her.
"You make it sound like being one of us is a bad thing, Penny." Ashleigh said, and I nodded in agreement. "The only ones bad are the ones like the twins."
"Speak of the devil." Penelope growled, and I looked down the flight of stairs.Lysander, and Lazarus were walking together, people occasionally glancing at them, with Zaiden behind them. What are they? The popular kids? Lazarus looked around the room, talking to Lysander, until his eyes met mine. Lysander glanced up at me also, and smiled.
"Great. They found their prey, they're coming for you now Nikolina." Ashleigh teased, and I growled. "Oh, getting all protective now aren't you?"
"No, I'm not." I stated simply. "I'm just not they're prey. Besides, the twins are just friends."
"Does this mean you have the hots for someone else?" Penelope said, forcing her way into the conversation.
"What? No. Of course not."
"Hmm? What about Zaiden?" Ashleigh snickered, and looked at me.I ignored her, and rolled my eyes. The twins made their way up to where we were, and I smiled. Lazarus tried to sit next to me, but Lysander beat him, and put his around my waist.
"Well, hello Princess." Lysander said, and I sighed.
"It's Nikolina. You know this dufus." I smirked, and Lazarus smiled.
"Hey, Nikolina." he said, waving from the other side of Lysander.
"Aren't you supposed to be on that side, with all the returners?" Lysander said bluntly, and I saw the hurt go through Lazarus's eyes.
"Would it kill you even just a little to be nice to me?" Lazarus said, trying to maintain his cool.
"Why should I? Your a monster."
"Likewise."Someone walked up onto the stage, and everyone quieted down. We all looked towards him, and listened as he talked.
"Welcome everyone to Forgotten Academy. I am the headmaster, Erick Matthews. This year we have quite a few newcomers, as we have a lot of returnees. Many of you were led to believe this was an optional assembly." He said, and took a deep breath in, "but here you are, supporting the newcomers. Today, this assembly is tasked to set partners. Then afterwards, we plan to start a new system. Teams."Yes. Yes. Yes. Partners. Get on with it. Wait, did he say teams? What does he mean by that? Around me people began talking to each other completely confused. I groaned, and watched as he wiped his forehead.
"Teams? What do you think he means?" Ashleigh questioned, but Penelope shook her head.
"I have no idea. It's a new concept."
"For those of you who don't know, partners are a huge help. They support you, and they'll be your biggest friend amongst anything. Once your assigned a partner today, you will not be allowed to switch. No exceptions." Lysander straightened himself up, and Ashleigh nudged my arm. "So, shall we begin with announcing the partners for the years to come?"Everyone began to yell out yes, and cheer. I didn't follow along, and just looked down at my lap. I just wanna know who my partner is, and go?
"Now to start the process off, I will simply say that our teachers, and staff have been watching all of you newcomers, and know exactly who you'd fit best with. We all gathered together, and talked it out. So, hopefully your partnered with someone you got along with quite well."
