Lysander's POV//
Nik's body was engulfed into flames within a few seconds, and Leon took a step back. I chuckled, and looked at him. "What's wrong? Afraid you'll get burnt again?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow, and Leon growled, "Awh, I didn't mean to offend you. You poor thing."
Leon moved towards me, grip tightening on his sword, but when he got close enough Nik got in front of me, and kicked Leon square in the stomach, scorching him. Leon yelped, and leaned over, placing his hand on his stomach. I glanced at Nik who was still in front of me, and he looked back at me. I smiled quickly at him, and turned to where Lazarus was.
Nikolina was still going after him, but luckily I noticed she was slowing down finally. Lazarus took a quick glance at me, and I nodded. I knew Lazarus never wanted to relive what happened that day, but if we were ever going to save Nikolina, it was the only possible way. Or so I thought.
Lazarus's POV//
Dammit. I did not want to do this again. I wanted to avoid doing this again at all costs, but looks like I didn't have a damn choice now. I growled to myself, and clenched my fist. This was my only shot, I have to do it.
I stopped in my tracks, and turned around to face Nikolina. She stopped also, and cocked her head slightly confused.
"Hey, Nikolina." I said, and I noticed everyone else stop and turn towards us. Great. "You wanna know something?"
I don't know if Nikolina nodded her head or not, but I continued talking all the same, "You aren't the only one with a dark side." Around me, I heard Zaiden grunt, and Lysander laugh at that.
"What the hell do you mean, she's not the only one?!" Zaiden yelled, and I heard him groan. I turned to where he was, and noticed Lysander had punched him in the face. I stifled a laugh.
"It means, my brother has a dark side also, you dumbass," Lysander said, and turned towards me, "Don't worry Lazarus, I'll help you get back to normal. Trust me."
I nodded towards my little brother, and closed my eyes. I was gonna hate this.
Lysander's POV//
I watched as Lazarus closed his eyes. In all reality, I was worried shitless. Would I actually be able to bring him back? I barely was able to last time. I sighed, and moved away from Zaiden, before smirking. "You're going to regret this," I told him, and I saw him tense out of the corner of my eye.
Just like Nikolina, darkness surrounded Lazarus, and his eyes turned red. I had only seen this once before, and that was when he killed Mom and Dad, but still even now the sight almost terrified me. He was worse than Nikolina, by a long shot. And unless I do something before he attacks anyone besides Zaiden's men then we're all as good as dead.
Lazarus zoomed up to Nikolina, and although men don't hit woman that rule didn't apply to the situation. He punched her in the gut, and sent her flying back into nearby trees. "Shit," I heard Zaiden mumble. I smirked at that, and kept my eyes on my brother.
No matter how many moves Nikolina tried to make against my brother, Lazarus was always one step ahead of her. When Nikolina moved again, Lazarus hit her in the back, and she stayed down. But for how long no one could guess. Lazarus averted his gaze to Zaiden, and Leon, and they tensed. "Oh, shit." Leon said, "Zaiden, what do we do?"
"I...I don't know." He said, but then probably realized he had to think of something, "No, I know. Attack him. There's one of him, and over ten of us. We can take him,"
The people of Zaiden's team got ready to attack, and Nik and I backed away. "Lysander, should we leave it to Lazarus?" Nik asked, and I nodded.
"Go check on Nikolina," I commanded, and instead of nodding, Nik ran off to his sister. I kept my gaze on Lazarus as he wiped out some of Zaiden's men. Leon stood up, and grabbed Zaiden's hand. I took a step forward when I noticed what they planned on doing, but something stopped me. Lazarus. He turned towards me, and my breath hitched. One of Zaiden's men noticed, and shot at Lazarus, it hit him in the stomach, and at first it scared me, but it only angered Lazarus.
He growled, and turned his attention back to the men. He wiped out another set of them, and I looked back at where Zaiden, and Leon were. But they were gone.
"Dammit," I snarled, and turned to look at Nik. He had Nikolina in his arms, and I smiled slightly.
Most of the men had either been killed, or disappeared. And by now I could tell Lazarus was getting tired, especially since he was bleeding in many places. This was new, and it scared me.
"Lazarus, it's done. Come back." I yelled, and ran towards him.
"No, you idiot!" Luca yelled, "Don't go towards him!" I ignored him. Except he was right, going towards him was the stupidest thing I did.
Lazarus ran at me, as if I was a threat, and attacked me. I landed on the ground as he pounced on top of me, and I didn't have the arm strength to push him off. He elbowed me in the stomach, and I coughed up blood.
"L-lazarus, stop," I whispered, and tried to force him off me. But to no avail. He punched me n the face, and I coughed up more blood.
"Lazarus! Get ahold of yourself!" I managed to hear Nik yell, as my vision turned back from how many more times Lazarus began to hit me. I stifled a laugh. Was I going to die for my choice? Was I going to die because of my brother? Would I ever see Nikolina again? I coughed once more, as I felt the weight of Lazarus disappear.
"Lysander, stay with us." A voice said. Penelope, I believe. "Dammit, Nik. He's closing his eyes!"
And just like that I fell into a black darkness.
Nik's POV//
"We need to get him to a hospital quickly. Luca, don't get off of Lazarus! Penelope, and Ashleigh get Nikolina, and Lysander to the hospital." I commanded, and handed Nikolina to Ashleigh. Behind us, I heard Luca struggling, and I went over to help him. Luca pushed Lazarus down again, harsher, and I crouched down, and slapped Lazarus across the face.
"You dumbass!" I yelled at him, "You're brother might be dying because of you!" I slapped him again, only this time Lazarus's darkness subsided. He blinked, and looked up at me.
"What did you just say?" He asked after a few moments.
Luca got off of him, and Lazarus sat up. Luca went over to the girls who were struggling to take care of both Nikolina, and Lysander, and picked up Lysander for them. Lazarus stood up quickly, and tried to move to Lysander, but I stopped him.
"I...I didn't mean to do this," Lazarus whispered, not taking his eyes off his little brother, "I knew it was a bad idea to do this, but Lysander had trust in me. And I still couldn't come back like I had hoped." He stayed quiet, and looked at me, "Is he dead?"
I shrugged, "I don't know. We're taking them to the hospital. While we're there we might as well get you cleaned up too. You're bleeding a lot, plus you got shot."
"Right." he said, and looked down at his stomach, "I did, didn't I?"
I nodded, and took his arm, and placed across my shoulder so I could help walk him to the car. The entire time I couldn't help but feel how Lazarus was shaking at the thought of him hurting his brother. I sighed, and stroked his back. "He'll be fine, Lazarus. He's too stubborn to die."
Hey! I'm sorry for the VERY delayed chapter. I just became really lazy and didn't want to update, plus I've been roleplaying a lot, and focusing on writing a new story. Which by the way is up now on my page. It's called: 'His Bride', so give it a check if you'd like. Back to this story, I'm sorry if this chapter felt rushed to any of you. I really needed to write something, and since we're still in the battle I decided to take this route with Lazarus. Do you think Lysander is gonna die? And what do you think about Lazarus's dark side? Anyways, thanks for reading this chapter. And again, I apologize for the delayed chapter. Still love you all.
