In the Hospital

Lazarus's POV//

A few days later***

As soon as we had gotten to the hospital, the doctors admitted Lysander, and we weren't able to visit him. Apparently, I had damaged him too much, which added to my guilt I was already feeling. The doctors had to do surgery on him or he wouldn't survive, and that frightened me more than anything. I almost killed what I had left of family.

Nik told me after they had finished the surgery that Lysander was alright. A few broken ribs, since I kept punching him, and he also said Lysander had gone into a coma, and the doctors had no clue when he'd wake up. But that was okay for now. I couldn't bear myself to see Lysander even in his comatose state. Just knowing that it's my fault in the first place makes me wanna leave the hospital, and just vanish.

Nikolina on the other hand is doing perfectly fine, and has been with us in the hospital waiting for Lysander to wake up. When we told her the story of how Lysander came back for her, she teared up, but that's not what surprised me. What had surprised me was the fact that she wasn't mad at me for being the reason Lysander ended up in a coma. If anything she told me it was okay, and wasn't my fault. But I don't believe her. And I know as soon as Lysander wakes up, she's gonna be the first person to pressure me into seeing him. Maybe I'll have to make my escape before they can find me.

I sighed, and leaned forward in the white waiting room chair, which couldn't be anymore uncomfortable. What seemed nice right now was a nice warm bed, like the ones at the Academy. Yet, that felt like a dream from the past. Returning to the Academy right now, wouldn't be in our best interest. Especially, since the headmaster's son is a back-stabbing bitch, who tried to kill us.

Kill. Yes, that's right. Rhys died during the battle with the Black Suns. I wonder how Penelope is handling that. She didn't come with us. She, Ashleigh, and Luca returned back to the Academy after we got to the hospital. They couldn't afford to miss school, plus they aren't necessarily huge fans of Lysander in the first place. I assume they're going to have a funeral at the school for Rhys, yet no one will ever know the real reason for why he died. They'll have to make up an excuse won't they?

Nik sat down next to me, and handed me a cup with a lid on top of it. I glanced up at him, and he smiled slightly. "It's coffee, Lazarus. You look like you could use some." Nik said, and I took the cup out of his hands.

"Thanks," I muttered, and took a sip of the liquid, "Ow, that was hot."

"Obviously, I just got it." Nik chuckled, and sat down next to me.

"Warn me next time."

"Well, I said it was coffee. So, you should've known it was hot. You're the smart one in the group, remember?"

"No, I'm not." I said, and lowered my head, fixating my gaze onto my lap.

Nik sighed, and set his drink down on the ground, before clearing his throat. "Lazarus, do you still believe Lysander ending up in a comatose state is your fault?" He asked, and I nodded. "Why?"

"Because I attacked him. I gave him all those injuries. I told him I couldn't control myself, when I use my dark side. That's the very reason our parents died, is beause of that. Yet, he still trusted that he could save me, and get me out of it."

"See? There you go." Nik said, and I lifted my head once again, "That's the proof it wasn't you fault."

"I'm sorry, I don't follow."

"Lysander believed he could save you. He knew all too well, that he may not be able to, but that didn't stop him. He tried on his own accord. He did all this himself. He knew the risk, and he took it. Lazarus," he paused, and patted his thigh, thinking, "It's not your fault. And I know for a fact that whenever Lysander wakes up, you'll be the first one he wants to see. He won't blame you, Lazarus. He'll be happy to see you're okay."

"I don't deserve to see him, Nikalus. I hurt him." I murmured, and he put his hand on my shoulder.

"You didn't have control over that. It's not like you did it on purpose. Don't hate yourself for it. Okay? How do you think Lysander would feel, if he found out you hated yourself for hurting him?"

"He wouldn't like it."

"Then, shut up. And cheer up." Nik said, and stood up. "I'm gonna go get something eat. Want anything?"

I shrugged, "Surprise me."

Nikalus laughed, and turned on his heel, "Okay."

A/N: Hey, guys. This chapter isn't much, I'd just say it's a filler chapter. Because as of now, Lysander is in the hospital, so much isn't going to happen, since Lazarus is too emotional about his brother, and Nikolina will be watching Lysander the majority of the time. Uh...it's kinda pointless to apologize for the late chapter since I know it'll happen again anyways, so just bear with me for now, I'm trying. Yet, thanks to the end of the school year, I'm busy trying to work on grades, and passing tests. And you know finals coming up too. So, yeah. Just bear with me everyone. Once summer begins then I'll definitely have time to update this more often. And a lot is happening in the story soon anyways... :) Thanks, guys. Byee.
