Sam, Morgan and Arianna were eating dinner at one of Arianna's safe houses in Austin when a young boy ran into the room holding a laptop. His hands were shaking and he looked like he had seen a ghost. "Ar ' Arianna I think you should see this."
He turned the laptop towards them and they gasped at what they saw. Dozens of bodies littered the ground, all wearing the colors of the Warriors. Blood was everywhere and some of the bodies were missing limbs. Arianna stood, hands clinched into fists and eyes filled with sadness and rage. "How many, Charley?" She yelled.
?33," came Charley's hushed reply.
Morgan stood and tossed his chair across the room. Sam stood and pulled her brother into her arms. Morgan buried his face in her shirt and cried.
Arianna felt like her world had fallen. Those were her brothers and sisters and now they were gone. She had trained them, bonded with them. Sam was speaking to her. "What Sam?"
"I said this wasn't the Kylon. This wasn't Cassie. She wouldn't do this. She doesn't believe in taking lives to make a statement."
Arianna grabbed her cellphone and dialed her old friend's last known number.
Cassie picked up on the fourth ring. "Hello, Hayaus."
Arianna was surprised at how calm she sounded. "Arianna."
Cassie sounded like she had been crying.
Arianna heard Cora shout before she snatch the phone from Cassie.
"How dare you call her!! We know you did it!!! We know you killed those innocent Kylon people!!!" You're sick, you know that?"
Sam, Morgan and Arianna exchanged a look. Arianna pointed the phone at the horrific scene on the laptop. Cassie and Cora gasped. Arianna heard some shuffling before Cora spun around to show the others that were gathered around Cassie what was going on.
Shego was holding her sister's hand. Ron and Kim were huddled together. The other Protectors had their heads bowed in honor of the fallen. Salem had his arms around his protege. Cassie took the phone back and stared at Arianna. The beautiful Kylon Protector looked lost and absolutely devastated. "I didn't do it," she said. "I wouldn't do that to you."
"I know." Arianna said quietly.
Cassie turned and pointed the phone out the window.
The grass was soaked in blood. Bodies were strewn everywhere. "I came home to this." She said.
"Cassie it wasn't us."
"I know that. Because this was not the worst of it. I entered my room just in time to save Shego from some of Lord Zeeden's wonderful children. She had beaten the hell out of them but they were intent on bringing my sister back to their father."
Cora looked at Cassie. Cassie stared back at her. It was Salem who broke the silence.
"How did they know we were here?" He said. Cora looked around at all the faces. They all believed she had a hand in the tragic past few hours. Cora took a deep breath.
"My father has my mom and he told ..." she never got to finish. Salem launched himself at her. He had her on the ground and his hands were around her neck before anyone had time to react. Monique and Wade stepped towards him but the look in Salem's eyes warned them not to come closer.
"You have been spying on us for your father." Cassie could see he was struggling to contain his anger. Salem rarely got upset, but when he did things could go from scary to downright terrifying in a matter of seconds. Cora nodded. Cassie stood and slowly made her way over to them.
"Did you know of this? Did you know he was going to take innocent lives?"
Cora shook her head no.
"If I find that you are lying to me, it will be the last thing you ever do. I lost friends today!!! Cassie lost friends and family today!!!"
Salem stood and Cassie took his hand. He pulled her close and the others gathered around them.
