Chapter9

Cassie never thought she would be welcoming a traitor into her father's house. Her children didn't seem to like her decision much either. They watched Arianna with an intensity she had never seen in them before. "It is all right, guys." She said. They wagged their tails slowly and ruffled the feathers on their wings but they made no move towards Arianna. "What's gotten into them?" Kim asked. Cassie was about to answer when Tanner launched himself in front of the girls. Tanner growled and the poisonous spikes at the end of his tail appeared. The protection spells tensed. Tanner dropped into a crouch and growled at his pack to get their attention. Everyone instinctively moved close to one another. The window shattered and their stood Alina. Tanner launched himself in front of the stairs. Shego vaulted over his head. The Alfa Achiever took her legs out from under her and Alina smiled. "Hello everyone. Girls, did you enjoy my gift?"
Cassie's and Arianna's eyes met. Shego threw Tanner off and with glazed eyes she stepped to Alina's side. Arianna, Salem and the others stepped closer to Cassie. "How does it feel, Cassie? How does it feel to lose everything?"
Theodore took his big sister's hand and glared at Alina. The little boy's eyes were filled with hatred. "What did she ever do to you?"
Alina looked at him with amusement in her eyes. She waved a hand. Shego fell to the ground, screaming in pain. "Tell him, Cassie. Tell him what you did."
Cassie couldn't speak. Alina made a sign in the air. Shego turned to look at her little sister. "I... I it was an accident!!!"
"What was an accident?" Alina said with a smile.
"You know I..." Alina raised a hand to cut her off. "Answer the question."
Tanner flew to her side and nuzzled her gently. "I lost control of the Achievers. This was about 4 years ago. I... they they me and her sister were arguing. She had attacked my best friend." She pointed to Arianna.
"She put her in the hospital. The pack went after Diana that night. They... we didn't know if Ari would make it. I was so angry. They did what I couldn't do. By the time I got to them it was too late."
Alina motioned to Shego. Shego hurled a plasma bolt at Tanner. He dodged to one side and Cassie ran in front of him and the rest of her children. "Leave my kids out of this!!!!"
"Take that up with your sister."
A brilliant light shone down on Cassie and a glowing sword fell into her hands. Arianna and the others moved to fight the soldiers Alina brought with her. Shego hurled balls of green flame at her little sister. Cassie was managing to block and dodge most of her attacks. A strong, glowing shield of power surrounded her. "After all these years your still daddy's little girl. You're still his pride and joy, his precious little angel. I wonder, Cassie. Do you always run to daddy when you have a problem?"
"Since when is it a crime for a father to love his children?"
Cassie did a flying leap over her Sister's head. Shego turned and pulled her legs out from under her. Cassie rolled away and jumped to her feet.
"Giant plant!!!!" She heard Ron yell.
Cora and Alina were fighting but Alina kept taunting Cassie. Shego grabbed Cassie and threw her over the banister. Cassie twisted in mid air and landed on the couch. She jumped down and closed her eyes, shape shifting into her Achiever form.  The young, beautiful Alfa howled and her pack felt strength poor into them. They lifted their heads and howled with her before they ran out the door. Cassie lifted her head as her sister approached her. Shego reached out to gently stroke the top of her head. "You ok?" She whispered. Cassie nodded. "Giant man eating plant!!!!!" Ron shouted.
The mark on Shego's wrist lit up again. "Run, sis."
Cassie shook her head. "I won't leave you again."
Shego's trembling fingers gently cupped her sister's chin. "I love you." She whispered to her. "I love you too."
"The giant man eating plant is friendly!!!!!!"
Cassie dodged her sister's next attack and shouted to Alina. "Let my sister go and let's settle this!"
Alina tossed a knife at Cassie. Shego leapt in front of her sister. Alina smirked at Cassie. Kim ran into the room. The young Achiever moved so fast. She tackled Alina. "You're a coward!!!!" She cried. Kim was holding Shego in her arms. Cassie's pack ran into the room and surrounded their leader. "Go ahead, Cassie. I got what I wanted. Well?"
A girl gently put a hand on Cassie's head. "Hello, my angel."
The young Achiever looked up. Sheera  smiled down at her. "Little sister, Cassie never touched Diana. I did."
Alina stared up at Sheera. "What?"
"Cassie was nowhere near Diana that night. She lied to you."
"Cassie wouldn't lie about something like that!!!"
"Are you really that stupid? I sired her. She will do anything for me if it means protecting her family. Won't you sweetie?"
Cassie lowered her head. "There's my good girl." Alina jumped up. "How could you!"
"Diana was weak. Father wanted her to lead our pack. I couldn't let that happen. So I turned Cassie into one of us. We were going to be her birthday present anyway. I had to Alina. Don't you see that?"
"I'm so sorry, Cassie."
Alina threw herself at her sister. Sheera grabbed her and twisted her arms behind her back. She forced her to her knees. "You're a spoiled little brat! I did what I had to do to protect us. But you are so ungrateful. Don't you worry though. You'll be with your sister again soon."
Cassie raised a hand and Faithful sunk his teeth into Sheera's hand.
Sheera let go of Alina and tried to shake the dog off. Faithful finally let go. Sheera snapped at the Achievers. None of them moved. "My mother has decided you aren't going to get the chance to lead our pack either."
Sheera glared at her. "You are mine."
"I was yours. When we made that agreement, however, you promised you wouldn't hurt my family. You broke that agreement when you hurt Shego. It was because of you Alina did what she did."
Alina stood up and walked over to Kim and Shego. Sheera shifted. Theodore tossed 3 knives. Sheera dodged them. The little boy put a pipe to his lips and fired a dart into her neck. She fell to the floor.

Cassie felt gentle fingers in her hair and looked up to see Arianna standing there. The 2 girls stared at each other for a long time. "It was great fighting alongside you again," Arianna finally said. Cassie nodded. "I missed kicking ass and taking names with you."
Arianna smiled. She stepped closer. "Cassie?"
"Yeah?"
Arianna kissed her. To her surprise, Cassie didn't pull away. Arianna held her close. "She'll be back," she said when they finally broke apart. "And we'll be ready."

Shego woke to find the mark had vanished and Kim and her sister were at her side. "We survived." She said. The 2 girls grinned.

Sheera ran through the darkness and didn't stop until she was alone. They would suffer for what they had done to her.
