Leo
Calypso worked fast when she wanted to. In two days, or probably what felt like two days, she had packed food enough for a weeks journey.
Calypso did all those while I continued working on the machine.
"Can I help?" said Calypso behind me.
I jumped slightly.
"I told you not to sneak up on me!"
"Well, I wasn't sneaking up on you. Never mind. What can I do to help?"
"Uh. . .you aren't exactly qualified for this job. . ."
She gave me a look saying, seriously?
"You can uh, weave this wires, so it won't go all messy or something."
She went and sat next to me then started doing her job. I have to say she was fast. And I couldn't do my job properly because her smell was too overwhelming for me. She smelled of cinnamon and other herbs.I shook my head and just went back to work, at least trying to.
After some time she said,
"This isn't so bad."
"You know, if you ever need a job, just let me know, I'd be happy to take you.", I said.
"A job, huh?", she replied.
"Or we could start our own shop. Me being a mechanic and you singing and cooking food. We could get a lot of money!"
We both laugh at this.
"And you could, like, randomly burst into flames!", she said.
"What should we name it?"
"Leo and Calypso's Mechanical Shop and Diner."
And once again we laugh.
Then Calypso's smile faded.
"What's wrong now? One minute your happy the next your all droopy face." I said.
Instead of answering she changed the subject by asking a question.
"So. . .when are you leaving?"
"Getting tired of me already, sunshine? I'll probably leave in a week or two."
It was weird to think that before, I wanted to leave immediately and now I wanted to stay longer.
She gave me a sad smile as if knowing what I was thinking. I think she did.
Then over the side of my view, I saw a thing bobbing up and down in the water.
Calypso's eyes widened.
"Hurry! We need to get your things inside, before the boat disappears again. Since the magic of the island is unstable."
We hauled the machine and I got to work strapping it to the boat while Calypso put all the packages of food inside the boat.
I looked over at Calypso and said, "You know, if the boat only arrived for the guys you fell in love with. . .then. . ."
"Oh, don't get your hopes up, I still hate you.", she said with a smirk.
"So, we're locked in a love/hate relationship?", I said with mock hurt.
"Oh, shut up."
"I'm just sa-"
I stopped mid-sentence because Calypso grabbed my face and puled me into a kiss. . .A kiss. . ,
With all my flirting, i had never kissed a girl.
Sisterly pecks on the cheeks from Piper, Hazel and Annabeth and just about anyone who's done that to him, doesn't count. This was a lips to lips kiss, a full head on kiss.
And my first kiss was with Calypso.
Kissing her was blissful. Her lips we're soft in mine. And I pulled her closer to me by the waist, making the kiss deepen, and my lips moved in sync with hers. Only stopping a moment to take a breath and we went on like that, simply enjoying each others lips. Then we broke off and just stayed like that for a long time, in each others arms, hugging, like we might lose each other the moment we let go.
I broke the silence.
"Those food supplies are enough for two people to survive for a few days. . .you should come with me."
"Leo. . ." She said, "You know I can't, the island's magic prevents me. . . And I might take away your chance of getting back. . .As much as I want to. . .I-I can't. . ."
Calypso looked up at me, her eyes shining with tears, then it started falling down her cheeks. I brushed away her tears with my fingers. And I kissed her again, gently, like she might break with too much pressure.
"I'll come back for you."
"You can't." She said, "Leo, no man can find Ogygia twice."
"I'll find a way. . .trust me on this."
She smiled at my attempts to think of a way to get back to her.
Just then I remember the device Odysseus made, the one with a missing crystal maybe I could find my way back with it, also with Festus helping, it would be a piece of cake. I wonder if Odysseus was thinking of this island when he was making it.
"Cal, do you have crystal's here?", I asked.
She frowned at my question. "Yes."
"Can you chip off a small piece for me?", I said, then another thought forming in my mind, "Can you also make a small pouch of that fireproof cloth, I need it for a friend of mine."
"Those are odd requests, but yes, I'll give you some, give me a minute or so." Calypso said pulling away from me.
I watch her go, and not after a few minutes, she was back, with the pouch and a small piece of crystal in her hands.
"Thanks."
"Now go, we must not waste time anymore, we cannot afford to lose your only chance of getting back.", she said.
"I like it when you say "we"." I said with a smile.
She gave me a sad smile in return.
"Go. . ." She said again, with tears running down her face.
And she pushed me towards the boat gently. I boarded the boat, and look back at Calypso, she's watching with tears falling down her cheeks. Then she runs, runs away from the beach, and the last I see of her is her long hair, billowing against the wind, disappearing through the trees.
And I say to her, even if she can't here it,
"Calypso, I will come back for you, we'll be together again, you'll be free, I swear on the River Styx."
I knew it was a huge risk, doing that, but I will fulfill it. I can promise that much, till my last breath. . .
