While You Slept

The weekend went by quickly and before Sloane knew it she was back in the training room testing out a new device for them. She had not seen Richard all morning and she did not know whether to be relieved or sad.
“Now agent Preston, this device allows you to see activity in dark rooms. It senses heat and sounds also.”  Daniel said. Sloane was putting on a pair of glasses of some kind that were dark and had a single red line on it. They looked more like fashion glasses.
“It is also a map and a GPS.”
“Now you’re talking. Let’s see how his thing works.” Sloane replied. She turned it on and the lights in the room were turned off. When it passed the vision aspect she tried its other abilities and those ones worked at well. Towards the ending of the trial, Richard finally showed up. When Sloane had handed it back to Daniel she spoke to Richard.
“Perfect timing. You show up after the whole show. You were very late today. What happened?”
“Flat tire. But I’m here now. I hope I did not miss much.”
“Yes you did. But thankfully you are right on time to try out the other device.” Sloane said heading towards the door. “I have some things I want to discuss with Agent Grey. I’ll be with you in a bit.”

“Okay. But if you come back crying am not going do anything about it.” Richard replied taking the helmet – looking device from Daniel and putting it on his head. Sloane shot him a look from the door then rolled her eyes before leaving for Allen’s office. But before she got there, she made a stop at her own office to grab the files she complied over the weekend which she wanted to show him. Maybe he could help figure out what they meant. She passed rooms used for training bionic peoples and rooms for gifted people. Some were children, others were young adults. The training was to help them control their powers and the rooms were designed to contain their abilities so it
did not get out of control.

“Agent Grey I’ve got work for you.” She said once she was in Allen’s office. After explaining to him what she found after visiting Metro labs and how she needed him to go through them again in case she missed something.
“Seems easy enough. Since I have nothing else to do I’ll get right to it.”
“Great. I got to go back to the training room. Richard can get lonely at times.”
Allen did not reply. He just shook his head and watched her leave. She had great legs though, he thought. He was sure his mother would have slapped him on his back if she knew he had thought about that. His lips curved unconsciously, good old mum.
