The Big W was one of the World’s biggest weapon buildings. Located at the outskirts of town. It contained every weapon ever built and its exact location was classified. So it was basically impossible for junior agents to get access to it let alone non-agents. The security was breeched in the Fringe weapons division.
When Sloane and Richard got there Allen explained to them what happened.

“Silver stole a cell replicator from the vault. The mind blowing thing is how he stole it.” He led them to the vault. Around it was already taped with yellow ‘DO NOT CROSS’ police tape.

“There are absolutely no signs of damage or anyone trying to break it. The security cameras are of no help either. It did not show how he got in or got out, but once he took the weapon off its mantle, the silent alarm went off.”
“But how do we know it was Silver?” Sloane asked.
Allen gestured to one the forensic scientists who handed him a file.
“We found finger prints and ran it on our records. It did not match Silver’s profile but one of his henchmen. So we figured Silver sent him. But we still haven’t figured what he used to get in.” He answered and gave the file to both of them to look at. It contained mug shots of the man he was talking about.
“Obviously Silver would not come here on his own. He was not born yesterday.” Sloane commented. After looking at the pictures she continued,
“I think I know someone who might have an idea.”
She asked Richard for his spy pad and searched for something. She found it and showed the both of them. It was a newspaper article on her grandfather.
“Your grandfather? You must be kidding.” Richard commented.
“Hear me out first. He is a radioactive scientist and also very good with weapons. He might know the weapon we are looking for.”
Allen took a closer look at the article. It seemed fascinating. Apparently William Preston was a professor at Princeton. He also carried out experiments on mutants and played with the DNA’S of animals. Trying to create a whole different species of animal. Along the line things got out of hand. The animals he use began to develop telepathic powers and were very dangerous. Too dangerous that they were taken away and William was locked up because he was considered to be eccentric.
“But how are we going to meet him. It says here that he has been Medora Mental Institute in Boston for almost ten years now.” He asked.
“It is simple. He is allowed visitors from only immediate family. All you have to do is to meet the chief and tell him about it. We could get a plane tomorrow. But I have to meet him alone.” She answered.
Allen and Richard exchanged looks.
They were not sure if it was safe for Sloane to visit this man alone even if he was her grandfather. He was dangerous after all. But Allen knew Sloane was stubborn and she always had her way. So he agreed.
“Let me call the captain now and find out if it is possible.” Allen replied already dialing Joseph’s number. He excused himself to talk to him when he answered.
“Well some people are being secretive about their lives.” Richard said amusingly.
“It is called privacy and it is no secret. Maybe if you read a lot more, you would know about him.” Sloane snapped.
Richard only smiled and put his hands in his pocket. She was really stubborn. But no matter he loved seeing her flare up.
“The chief is on board with the idea. He said the faster we solve it the better. So your flight is going to be tomorrow morning.” Allen informed them when he got off the phone. “It is pretty late so you guys head home. I will finish up here.”
Sloane volunteered to help but she was turned down.
“You have to rest. You can do all the work tomorrow.” Allen told her.
“You heard him. Let’s go.” Richard replied pulling her by the arm. She glared at him and he let go of her.
“I can walk.”
But before she left she asked Allen to take care of the codes she left untouched in her office after it came back from the lab. She really thought her hunch about the codes matching the numbers on the drones will be right. Well she hoped. She just needed him to take it back to geeky Barry.
“I will have to take care of it when you leave or after questioning Silver. Either ways it will get to him.” He replied. Sloane gave him a nod and walked out with Richard.
When they got to her home he walked her to her doorstep. She thanked him for the dinner before she forgot and was about to open the door when he asked, “Not even a goodbye hug?”
She turned and smiled then gave him a full front hug.
“How about a kiss?”
“Bye Richard.”
She was still smiling when she closed the door behind her. Before she could stop herself she peeked through the window to know if he had left. Sure enough he was still there and he gave her a small smile. She blushed and quickly turned away from the window. Richard shook his head and let out a small laugh. Then he turned and walked towards his car. If he wasn’t sure of his feelings for Sloane before now, he was damn sure of it tonight.
