Richard stood waiting Sloane on her front door. He loved how she decorated outside with little pots of poinsettias. It really made the place look lively. He adjusted the bouquet of roses on his left hand and knocked on her door with his right. When she came to open the door he was speechless. She wore a vivid blue silk print blouse and matching long skirt. She wore high black wedge and her only makeup was mascara, eye pencil and a little eye shadow. Her red lipstick made her lips look full and kissable and she wore her brunette hair in a bun. She looked very beautiful with the silver earrings dangling off her ear lobes. He sought what to say.
“Oh are those for me?” she asked looking at the roses he forgot he was holding.
“Yeah they are for you. You look lovely.” He replied handing them to her.
“Thank you. Come in let me find a vase to put these.” She replied sniffing them.
“You have a nice place.” He commented after looking round. He loved what she had done with the place. Not too much decorations and not too little either. Just right for a woman her age. The place was very neat and arranged. “Not as girly as I had imagined but still very nice.”
“I try to keep it in one piece though.” She replied after filing a vase she found with water and placing the roses in it. “So if you are done looking round, we can leave.”

She picked her coat from the coat hanger and Richard followed her out. He opened the door to his Range rover for her to get in. she smiled at the gesture. While he started the car she asked, “Where are we going?”
“I thought maybe we try Italian. There is this new restaurant that opened downtown. Thought you might like it.” He answered.
“I love Italian. They have great pasta.”

He loved the way she smiled and could not help staling side glances at her while he drove. She was looking out the window so she did not notice. She looked so beautiful tonight and so perfect too. He itched to have his arms wrapped around her but instead he focused on the road. After a some minutes they arrived Vienne’s Italian restaurant. As they stepped out of the car and into the building, they were greeted by the warm waft of food that they could smell.

The lights were dim. The perfect setting for couples wanting to just chill out. They were given perfect tables. While seated they looked at the menu deciding on what to eat. They finally settled on roasted veal with chutney and fried parsnips for the main meal. For the entrée they had breadsticks and seeded bread rolls. When Sloane bit into the bread roll she savored the taste. It tasted really good and was bursting with different flavors. After a few bread rolls she nursed a Chianti while she discussed with Richard. They talked on random topics and went onto personal lives. They were deep in conversation and did not notice when their food arrived.
Sloane could not help but notice how good looking Richard was. He’s eyes under the dim lights were really blue and very attractive. She felt she could nothing else but to stare into them. She shook her head slightly, no thoughts like that for now. Richard was also studying her. She looked wonderful and her smile, that smile, had his tummy in knots.  He ached to have her in his hands. He sipped his Martini.
“So you do not go out often?” He asked
“I do but on rare occasions. The dressing up and stuff is just too stressful. Besides I enjoy my work.” She answered.
“Of course you do. But u really should try to get out more. You know, have some fun.”
“I have fun. I have tons of fun.” Sloane protested.
Richard laughed and changed the topic. They finished their meal, both too full for dessert, asked for a refill of their glasses. They could not have asked for a better night. Well so they thought until Sloane’s pager beeped and Richards spy phone rang. They looked at each other before he answered it.
“Cancel your night plans pal, we got a problem.” Allen’s thick voice said.
“Silver broke in to the Big W.”
“You don’t say.” Richard replied sounding less concerned.
“Yes. Now go get agent Preston. You have to see it for yourself. And fast.”
“We will be there in thirty minutes.” Then he broke the connection.
“Let’s go. That was Agent Grey. Duty calls.” He said to Sloane and finished his glass. He asked for the bill and paid it before he got up.
“We are heading for the Big W. Apparently Silver broke in. And I am supposed to be picking you from your house. So let us be quick; we have thirty minutes.”
“You did not tell him I was with you?” Sloane asked when they got in the car, her right eyebrow raised.
“Slipped my mind. We better hurry before something else happens.”
It slipped your mind to let Allen know I was with you, Sloane thought. That sounded really weird. It was almost as if he was lying to her. But that would not make any sense. But she did not prod any further.
