Meanwhile back at the Pentagon, Allen already had Silver in the interrogation room. They had found him at his residence outside of town. Before Sloane called he was about to go in and ask him some questions. Now that he was off the phone he picked the files he needed and accompanied with Richard and another agent, he entered the room. Surprisingly he was not demanding for a lawyer. He claimed earlier on that he had nothing to do with the previous attack and that he had not done anything bad since they released him from prison.
"I am telling you I have not done anything wrong. Well apart from paying my rent late but that has nothing to do with this." He said in his thick German accent. Allen was far from believing him. He placidly opened the file he had and brought out mug shots of one of his henchmen that they found his fingerprints and he placed them in front of him next to another picture of the cell replicator.
"This was stolen from the vault and we found fingerprints of one of your guys. So you still want to deny it?"
Silver looked at the pictures then said,
"I fired him long ago. Even before you threw me into prison. And I have never seen that device before although it looks like something I would have stolen."
"Can we have his address?"
"I do not have it. He does not stay at a place very long. But whoever hired him must be paying him better than I did for him to have gone as far as Big W."
Allen ignored his comment. The only lead they had did not pan out. He would have to go through everything again from the top.
"Can I go now? I have many things to do with my free time." Silver asked shaking the handcuffs they had him in.
As much as he wanted to keep him locked up Allen could not because they had no other evidence against him. They released him and Allen went back to his office to keep searching. After some minutes Richard came in,
"I am sure we would get to the bottom of this."
"I hope so. It just does not make sense."
"Looks like it. I hope you do not mind, I need to take care of something back home but I will be back before Sloane does."
Allen was not going to question him. Obviously he was going to lie.
"Sure go ahead. Just make sure you are here on time."
He nodded and left. When Allen was sure he was gone he called Metro labs,
"Hello Astrid, I need you to look up a location for me and I need someone else tracked."
"Sure. What is it?"
"Look up Diablo Mondragon for me. Where he lives and stuff like that. And the next person I need tracked might shock you."
"Go on then."
"Agent Austen. I need you to follow his movements for a while. Can you do that?"
He was right, she was shocked.
"Of course I can. I have the right person for it. But why do you need Agent Austen followed?"
"Let's just say I am following a precaution. I need information on Diablo as soon as possible."
She knew he did not want to answer any more questions so she did not ask any. So instead she told him she will get to it right away.
I know it is ridiculous, he thought after the call. But why do I have this feeling something is terribly wrong.
