Tyler hated school. He hated a lot of things. It wasn't the schoolwork that bothered him, nor the open-stalled bathrooms. It wasn't having his dad as the school basketball coach. It wasn't even sitting on the floor of the cafeteria because all the seats were taken. It was the people at school, the students. It was because no guy could stand having Tyler accidentally glance at him in the bathrooms because he was "gay," even if he was just looking to see if there were any free stalls. It was being made fun of if you weren't the best guy on the basketball team. It was not being able to reach certain expectations. Letting your own dad down almost every game. It was because no one cared enough to even let him sit at a table as he ate his only "meal" of the day. Even some of the girls couldn't help but pick on him. But whatever. He deserved it. At least he knows that. "He" made sure of that, made sure he knew he deserved to suffer.

School just wasn't for me. Nothing about it was, really. Teachers, students, schoolwork, hallways, cafeterias, councilors, classrooms, lockers- nothing.
It's not that I was typically a bad student, I just didn't like doing things in general. I guess you could laugh at me for that, but I really had zero motivation to complete or attempt anything. I used to like doing a lot of things. Like basketball, for example. I was a pretty decent player if not one of the best. But one day, I just lost interest in all of it. Football, too. Even though it was a one-season thing, it was still a lot of fun at the time.
