"hey," Josh said happily, "piano?" He asked, and I held up my electric keyboard in my arms.
"Great," he said, excited, "let's go."
When I first walked into his room, I noticed the huge, red-and-black drum set that lay just beside his bed, which was lined with red-and-white sheets. I sat on the end of his bed and placed my keyboard next to me. Josh sat at his drums and began to play a simple beat flawlessly. I started to notice more and more of not just what the sound that came out was, but Josh himself. God, was he cute. He looked so focused and satisfied within his beat. Once he finished, I stared at him a little longer. He smiled.
"What?" He said, still smiling and confused.
"Nothing, you're good," I said, nodding a little towards the drums.
"Eh... Not really. Anyway, you gotta song?"
I smiled and looked at the paper on top of my piano.
"Yeah," I said, "play along if you can."
"Okay."

"Wow," I said, still looking at Tyler. He was so passionate about his music. I was staring at him for almost all of the song. I almost accidentally stopped playing. He always looked a little attractive if I had to be honest, but when he was playing and singing, God, he was a different person. The way his nose scrunched up when he yelled a few lyrics, how his eyes shone between each note-Shut up Josh. You're not gay, stop acting like it.
"Ha. But you are. You're pathetic," he said, I didn't have a name for the voice in my head, so I just called it he or him.
"Don't fall for him though. He just feels bad for you."
"No, he's my friend," I whispered.
Tyler's smile faded.
"What?" He asked, worried.
"Nothing, sorry. You're really good."
"Not really," he responded, "You don't have to lie."
"Shut up," I said, still amazed. "You know you're good."
He smiled, and I felt a little more feeling for him.
Maybe he liked me too?
YOU? WHO COULD EVER LIKE YOU? He's not even gay like you, freak.
