Melanin, you have been in prison far too many years
You have been stranded in an Island full of misunderstanding
You have been misguided with everything else that concedes with you
You have been hurt, Melanin, and so thousands were hurt.

Melanin, it shows that you are free- finally free
But now your wings are attached, my love
But now your fire, engraved back, my strength
But now your voice is set to roar, my dear
But now your beauty is free, my hope

So open your wings and soar, to all the places
Set your burning, enthralling fire, to all the places
Shout and yell your graceful voice, to all the places,
The places that have been deprived of you

Because Melanin, you are not finished
You will never be, it is impossible
Anyone and everyone can never again capture
Your wings, your fire, your voice, and your beauty
My love, my strength, my dear, and my hope

You are free, Melanin!
We your people declare it, Melanin!
So go and do what you were meant to
Since the beginning, my beautiful Melanin.
