24. Finally

I opened my eyes and took a deep breath. The blinding bright light in the room hurt my eyes causing me to squint them. I tried to sit up and look around but my body was heavy and wasn't allowing me to even raise my head.

"Mommy?"

I looked towards the bottom of the bed and smiled when I saw Avy lying there on her iPad.

"Hey baby."

My voice was a little raspy and my mouth was as dry as the desert.

When she heard me her eyes got big and she jumped off the bed sprinting to the door.

"Where are you going Aves?" But she was already out the door.

I sighed and attempted to sit up again. It was difficult but I managed using my left arm. Looking around the room I realized I was in a hospital bed. My memory slowly came and I remembered why I was in here.

I furrowed my eyebrows at the thought of the truck hitting my car sending it and me flipping off the road. I looked down to see my wrist in a cast and slingshot. I winced because of the slight pain I felt from it.

I raised my hand up and felt my forehead. It had what felt like a big bandage on it. Please lord don't tell me my face is messed up. And where the hell did Avy go? As if reading my mind she came back holding someone's hand and pulling them in the room.

I smiled when I saw that it was Remi. She looked at me with a surprised face.

"Oh my god! Oh shit. Wait let me call ya mama!"

I watched her run out of the room just like Avy did a few minutes ago.

"I told Fairy you wake up but she not believe me."

I laughed a little and watched her get back in the bed with me.

"You were sleeping for a looong time mommy. I missed you."

I smiled. "Aw I missed you too Aves."

What did she mean I was sleeping for a long time?

"Wait Aves how did you get here? I thought you were with daddy."

"I was and then we came to see you and then I stayed with mawmaw." She yawned and curled up next to me. "And now I'm here with you and Fairy."

I smiled and kissed her forehead. "Take a nap baby. I'll see you when you wake up."

She nodded and closed her eyes scooting closer to me but soon popped back up. "Wait Mommy! Daddy said I'm about to be a big stister!"

My eyebrows shot up. "Oh really?"

She nodded and laid her head back down. "Yep. He said that it's not in your tummy and that made me sad but I was still happy that I'm gonna be a big stister."

I smiled at her excitement. "I'm sure you'll be the best big sister ever."

So he got someone pregnant. It's probably the one he used to have around Avy. I wonder how long he's known and when he told Avy. I was about to ask her when he told her but when I looked down she was falling asleep so I decided not to.

"Ok your mom is on her way." Remi said walking back in. "And the nurse will be here to check on you in a minute."

I nodded. "Can I get some water please."
