40. The Big News

1 Week later

We just got to my house and lord knows I was exhausted. That four hour drive from campus can be tiresome. Even though August was driving. We were finally done with our finals and I couldn't be more grateful. All I wanted to do was fall asleep under him but everyone else seemed to have different plans.

My mom and Avy came over today instead of tomorrow because she wanted to hear the supposed big news early. Avyana decided she wanted to stay up later then her bedtime and well August was just being August.

"Ma I told you I was gonna tell you when I came over tomorrow."

"You know I don't have enough patience to be waiting until tomorrow."

I yawned. "Ok well let me go give Avy a bath real quick and get Ant."

She nodded. "Alright. Are you guys hungry? I could find something to make."

"No its ok we ate before you came."

"Ok then."

I yawned again and went up the stairs to Avy's room. She was playing with her dollhouse. While I got her water running I told her to pick out some pj's she wanted to wear and get ready to get in the tub.

A nice warm bath was all she needed to go to sleep cause she's just as tired as me but she likes to fight her sleep in fear of missing out on something fun.

After washing her off and braiding her hair down I tucked her in with her Sophia doll. I placed a kiss on her head and just like that she was closing her eyes.

With a sigh I made my way towards my room to get Ant. He was laid out on my bed sleeping. I pouted cause he looked so comfy and I wished I was laying with him. But if I can't sleep neither can he.

I went to him and shook him until he groaned. "Wake up my mom's downstairs and she wants answers."

He sighed and looked at me. "You for real?"

"Do you think I would be awake right now if I wasn't?"

"Bruh. I just wanna sleep."

"We're on the same page then."

We both made our way downstairs into the front room where my mother sat watching TV.

"Ok mom we're here."

She looked up at us and smiled before turning the tv off. "Ok so what's going on?"

"Its about August and I."

She nodded. "Well I know that. So what is it?"

"We togetha na'."

She furrowed her eyebrows. "That's all? That's why I left my house?"

We both looked at her crazy. "What do you mean mom? Aren't you happy?"

"Well yes I was when I first found out."

"Wait you already knew?" August asked taking the words out of my mouth.

"Well of course. I'm you're mother I can see when there's a change in you."

"But I wasn't acting any different."

"You may not have noticed but I did."

I stood there quietly for a second. "Hm. Well uh yeah then that was it."

She laughed and stood up. "Well I'm gonna go before it gets too late. I'll see you in the morning?"

I nodded. "Yes ma'am. Goodnight. Love you."
