To say Skye was nervous about Ian's arrival was a colossal understatement. Yes they'd had an immediate connection when they started calling, face-timing and texting but what if it didn't translate into real life? What if he took one look at her and then turned and ran the other way? What if it didn't work out?

In actual fact, it turns out after all that worrying that Skye's fears were completely unfounded. Hearing a sudden knock on her apartment door, she knew it could only be one person. Ian.

Just under an hour earlier he had texted her from JFK saying he'd landed and that he was going to make his way straight over to her place. He wasn't even going to bother with checking in at his hotel first. All he cared about was getting to her as soon as possible. It had been such a long wait.

Walking over to the front door, Skye took a deep inhale, calmed her nerves and then opened the door. Standing in front of her was the man she'd had on her mind constantly for the last month. He was staring straight at her, just as she was him. Not a word passed between the pair, both just taking in the other with their eyes.

Ian was the first to break, a huge crooked grin engulfing his face suddenly. When Skye gave a relieved smile and giggle of her own it only took seconds for them to end up in each other's arms.

"I can't believe you're actually here," Skye bounced excitedly whilst held tightly in Ian's arms.

"I can't believe I'm here either," Ian replied, moving back slightly so he could look again at the face of the girl he'd been crushing on for so long.

The next few hours were spent just chatting, joking, cuddling and eventually kissing. It just came so naturally. The way the pair were together you'd think they'd been an item for years. There was no awkwardness, no tension, no uncertainty. Within minutes Ian and Skye had both confirmed that they were something special.

For the first couple of days that Ian was in New York he was pretty busy and practically had to tear himself away from Skye. His initial reason for coming into the city was to be a speaker at a fundraising event for the Animal Welfare Institute. It was two days of interviews, lunches, conferences and public speaking that kept Ian away from Skye for most of the time. Once it was over though he barely left her side for the remainder of his stay.

Three nights Ian actually slept at his hotel, yep three nights only. After that and for the next five days before he had to fly back to Georgia he was with Skye in her apartment. Neither wanting to leave the security of their little haven.

Skye and Ian had luckily so far made it through the week paparazzi free. That was all set to change though. It was on the fourth day, when Ian decided it was time he cooked Skye the meal he'd promised her since the day they first made contact.
Leaving the apartment was fine, he'd managed to sneak into a taxi and get to the grocery store pretty much incognito. By the time he got back to Skye's building though, there was a large group of photographers. Someone must have spotted him in the area and had him followed.
