This is the first one shot I am writing for myself. I'm putting a twist to this song and it still will be amazing. All the information about me in this one shot, is a complete work of fiction. I am just having fun. Flashbacks will be italicized.

Austin (Trigger warning: Death by fire)

I was sitting on the couch watching TV, when I saw headlights pull up. I paused the movie and walked to the window. My best friend and roommate came home later than usual. What I saw broke my heart: him crying and repeatedly hitting the steering wheel. I walked out of the house and got into his car. People dying because of a fire didn't happen often, but when it did, it affected him. This one seemed to be worse.

I've known him since he was little, and he had been obsessed with firetrucks even then. He also loved trying to save people. And when he graduated from the Academy for Firefighters, I was there.

"Long day?" I asked.

I could tell he was on the verge of tears.

"We had one die on us before medics arrived. It was a small house fire and we got the parents out safely, but the little girl wanted to go back for her teddy. She was only 3."

We got out and I gave him a hug and didn't care if I was covered in soot and ash. He needed me.

"Austin, you can't save everyone. Even if you could save everyone, there wouldn't be anyone left to save."

He let the tears escape he tried so badly to keep in.

"I know, but Catie, what if it was my kid? What if I couldn't save them? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that had happened."

I tried to cheer him up by using a Disney reference, "What do we do when life gets us down? Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim, swim," The next part made him laugh because I always use the funny voice, "Ha, ha, ha, ha we love to swimming."

That scene from Finding Nemo was his favorite, and would always pick him up if he was in a crappy mood.

Phil (Trigger Warning: Death by Natural Disaster)

Phil was sitting in the common area of the Coast Guard living complex, when he saw the weather news bulletin appear on the TV screen.

"The National Weather Service has indicated a Catergory 4 Hurricane moving through the Southern parts of  Florida,"

Phil's heart began to feel like it was sinking. He knew I lived in Tampa.

"Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, and California. Non-Authorized Personnel should immediately take shelter on higher ground."

Just then the alarm in the complex started to go off. He began to worry even more.

"Coast Guard teams have been notified and are on high alert. These teams should contact loved ones to make sure they are safe."

"Manansala, come on! We need to go! This storm could hit Tampa any second." His commanding officer said giving orders.

"Let me call my friend first. She lives in there." He said as he got out his phone.
