-Chloe's pov-
I walked down the bare hallways with the silent servant girl. She turned to the left, then straightened. It felt like this whole train were a maze. A maze that would take me to an even bigger maze. So I'm screwed. (A/N. Please do not be offended in any way because of this mildly coarse language. I promise it will not be any worse than this)
The girl led me into a dining compartment. The walls were covered in purple wall paper and in the middle, a large mahogany table where Peafowl, Birdy and a few others ate a pot of ramen. At least, I think it was ramen. We never had that privilege.
"Ah, yes, our lovely replacement" Birdy cooed maliciously. She obviously knew I was the one that called angrily in the emergency reaping "come, take a seat. We were just talking about you."
Probably not about how brave I was. Not that I was. Just a thought.
I sat at the head of the table and poured ramen into my once empty bowl.
I slurped while Birdy began talking about preparation for the games.
"So we need a fabulous outfit and a sexy interview and-"
"Food" Peafowl ended. Then he laughed with chewed up ramen in his mouth.
I gagged.
Birdy frowned "I was going to say a good mentor. Besides, where are they?"
Peafowl winked at me and blushed.
I gagged again.
"Hmmm" another man hummed. I think it was a man (A/N Please do not comment how dare you assume my gender. That is annoying)I didn't really know. He had a long, make up ridden face with heavy red mascara, eyelashes dripping with purple color and high, prominent cheekbones that look like we're given plastic surgery. " The Drug Twins are still in bed, doing the most peculiar of actions that I must not elaborate on. We are having a bad year."-Peafowl's pov-
So it's a bad year, huh? Right. I have the crybaby's friend, Anger Issues who is somewhat hot. She was like a silent operator. Her long brown hair, tied in a messy bun and dark blue eyes. Yes, she was mine.
It was a bad year. That ugly dude called our mentors the Drug Twins. The dude was probably her stylist, which, in other words means we will probably be dressed as a tree or something. And Chloe does not seem like a fighter, more like a horse rider. I've spied on her for years, riding the horse of hers. It's only my luck now that I'll kill her, since of my superior skills. She's too well fed, though.
I was well fed but her aunt kept her alive for that long. Not like the rest of the district.
"So where's my stylist?" I asked. Why did Chloe keep gagging at me?
That Birdy woman cleared her throat "Ummm, we are having a shortage of stylists. So it's only your prep team that are flying solo."
"But... That's not fair!" I cried. Another gag from Chloe.
"Well, we have a temporary one" Birdy gestured to heavy-makeup-guy " Meet Salser"
I stared in disgust, my mouth hanging wide open.
"If you keep your mouth open like that, you might catch a fly" Chloe snarled. I glared, trying to be menacing.
"You two better calm down or you're going to have a hard time in the games" Birdy yelled "Now we have to figure out a game plan. Something that will blow everyone away. Salser?"
"If you want me to think of a creative idea, I must leave" Salser replied coldly. He stood and bid us a farewell then exited with a swing of his long, greasy hair.
The dining room was in silence after that.-----------
Desert came with a delicious cake topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream.
I attacked it like, hoping that no one was looking at the way I ate.
My mother had always said that manners were no use to anyone since we lived in a poor district. Now I sort of regretted it. When the Capital sees me eat, I won't get any sponsors at all. Case closed.
But if I stuck with Chloe... Hmmm...
I glanced over at her biting into a strawberry. She could be the one to save me. Then her death will be easy, what with all the wounds she'll get from trying to protect me. Yes, it could work. Just make her like me.
Right now she seems the opposite.
"Hey Chloe" I said smoothly.
"Mm?" She asked back.
"Maybe we should work together in the games. Two heads are better than one, after all."
She looked disgusted "As if. You couldn't shoot a target from a foot away. Please."
"Watch what you say" I said, trying to be like Birdy "I'll be your worst nightmare in the arena. You better join me or else."
Chloe stared at me blankly. Then she smiled... And laughed.
"Yeah, that's pretty funny" she joked.
Is it success? Yes it is.
She's in my trap now.Ok, I've updated. Happy, everyone?
I know it took ages but I've been really busy. Now the book is getting interesting, which is good. As we see Peafowl's point of view, we'll see how it all links together.
Peace, love, science
