Maggie arrived home early that day. Her job at the newspaper was quite a success. She got the pop colum job so she would get to bring Frank with her to a few parties in the next 6 months. Now though she just wanted to relax.

One thing that Maggie rarely did before moving back to California was gardening, but since she left her book club behind during the move, she had some free time. So she decided to see how the flower garden in the backyard was doing.

When she got to the backyard she saw an old man wearing trousers and an old english cap.

" Ummm excuse me, can I help you." Maggie asked.

The man slowly rose onto his two feet, and turned around to face Maggie. The man had soulful blue eyes, and bags underneath them. The man looked to be in his late seventies to early eighties, yet seemed trim and a bit fit for his age. He also slouched a bit.

" The name is Grubs, Irwin Grubs" the man said. He extended his dirt covered hand.

Maggie did not want to get her hands all dirty, so she resisted shaking Irwin hand.

" Ah yes, Irwin..," Grubs interrupted Maggie by saying how everyone just calls him Grubs.

Maggie corrected herself. " Okay Grubs, yes umm Mr Raymond mention that we had our private groundskeeper who will work for a cheap price."

Grubs took of his hat, and used it to wipe some sweat from his face.

" Listen Mrs, I know you don't know me, but please let me work on the garden. I will do the grounds keeping for an even cheaper price. Besides my wife use to take care of these flowers when we owned the house in the 70s. She would attend to these flowers even after we had to sell the house. That is why I tend to them to this day" Grubs explained

Maggie felt a bad for the man, and understood why he wanted to look after the flowers.

" Of course we will still hire you. Don't worry about wages, we'll pay you at your normal rate" Maggie said.

" God Bless your family" Grubs said happily.

Suddenly Maggie cellphone rang. She picked it up, and was shocked to be getting a call from the police. She listened carefully. The officer on the other end said they had brought Sara down to the station for questioning. The officer explained she was a witness in the attempted murder of a Mrs Adelina Crow.

" Listen, I am on my way starting now" She said, and thanked the officer for notifying her. She said goodbye to Grubs, and left for the police station.
