Wakefield isn't anything like high school but I was proven wrong when I found out that almost everyone around the campus admiring Callum knows that I'm dating him changes it all. My friends are happy that I am finally going out there after that awful experience with Karl but most of the ladies crushing on him didn't share the enthusiasm. Especially Kara Jones.
It isn't the first time that I've had haters along my way. Back in Berlin, not everybody liked me. It was an awful experience and unfortunately my haters grew when they found out about the party Karl and I went along with our family.
I'm good at avoiding things, that's what I always do to get by. But recently, it's getting harder than I remember.
When I arrive in class earlier than my friends, people would whisper 'Nazi' loud enough for me to hear. Some even think that I'm here for espionage or something. I wanted to talk back, but I don't think it would change anything. But I'm still happy that despite of their best efforts to find something to say against me, they haven't really found the things that I would have ticked off from.
I was walking out of the building as Callum wanted us to meet by the coffee shop for coffee when Kara blocked my way. Her pale, long, thin arms are folded across her arms. "I can't believe a Nazi was able to enter America, let alone stay and study in one of the top universities." She said, spitefully.
Fighting the urge to roll my eyes, I sighed. "Havent you been keeping track of history? There hasn't been a Nazi since World War II." I was about to walk away when she blocked me again, along with her friends.
"Don't try to get smart at me German. Leave Callum alone."
I looked at her deadpanned. "You seriously think that I'm forcing myself on him? Sorry to disappoint Blüde Gans. I am not like you, so Verpiss dich." I said, faking a smile I can muster and went ahead.
The thing about American people trying to insult you is that when you fire back, they couldn't really throw another thing at you especially when you slap them with the truth using your native tongue. I have had bullies in my life and I have tried so hard trying to take the high road but this time, I wouldn't let people think any less of me just because I'm dating someone they can't have.
I left them with confused look on their faces as I made my way towards the coffee shop. I try to take my mind away from what just happened and I certainly didn't want Callum to see me bothered by those people.
The bell rang when I open the door of the coffee shop and my eyes search for Callum. He waves his hand at me signaling me to where he is. I walk towards him and smile sweetly, giving him a kiss on his cheek before sitting across him.
"So what's up?" I asked as soon as I'm comfortably seated on the chair.
He grins at me and began his news. "A benefactor donated a generous amount to the school. Dr. Alley is one of the beneficiaries of the donation. The school will hold a ceremony for the benefactor and Dr. Alley has invited me to welcome him alongside him."
When he mentions a benefactor, I knew instantly who it is. "D-do you know who the benefactor is?"
He shook his head lightly while grinning. "No, unfortunately not. The benefactor wishes to reveal himself when he arrives."
I nodded, trying to hide the fact that I know who it was. "When will he arrive?"
Just as I said that, the coffee shop's TV interrupted him. "Breaking news, the Chancellor of Germany will be arriving in 3 days for the bilateral meeting with the President of the United States of America..."
