"Oww that hurt" I whined to my sister as she collected a blood sample.
"Oh, don't be such a baby, this is the last sample I need." She said while pulling the injector off my arm and taking the tiny cannister to get it analysed.
When she had done putting the sample, the analyser's screen lit up and showed my blood cells though I didn't know what had changed
"It all seems normal to me." I said to my sister who was hunched over, taking a closer look at my blood cells through a microscope
"Hmm, your blood cells seem to be working faster than an average humans." Kate said still hunched over the table.
"Which means?"
"It means that you have some form of cellular regeneration."
"You mean like a healing factor, like Wolverine?" I asked
"Who?" She wondered
"You know, like, the guy with the claws."
"What are you talking about?"
"The guy that Hugh Jackman acted as when we went to that movie ." I explained
"Ohh, yeah that guy... He was awesome." My sister said focusing now on the skin sample she took.
It was silent after that as my sister jotted down observations she found through the samples. I looked to my left and saw Misaka peeping around the corner, she instantly withdrew her head back as she noticed me looking
What? I wondered but my attention was quickly grabbed away as my sister grabbed my hand and said:
"We need to test how fast you can go." She said seeming very excited
"Why and how?" I inquired
"I just need to check your limits for something I'm planning and to answer your question of how, we have a special treadmill used for cars that can measure the speed to find ways to make safety devices for car manufacturers." She answered.
"Uhh okay?" I said as I was still absorbing the information she had given me
"Yay." She said jumping up and down with excitement "Misaka get your notepad and goggles, we're going to The Treadmill."
"Aye, aye Miss Kate." Misaka replied while saluting with great enthusiasm, I saw her running out to stand beside us with her notepad clutched between her arm and goggles over her eyes
They are weird I thought to myself.
"I'm ready." Misaka said waiting for Miss Kate
"You should wear some goggles too, you never know what's going to happen." Kate suggested
I took some spare goggles and went out to the garage which, to be honest, looked much more like a warehouse.
"Here it is, the treadmill." She said pointing towards what look like a conveyor belt stuck to the floor, "We'll be up on the observation tower getting some data."
"Wait, wouldn't my clothes burst into flames while I'm running?" I asked worrying about what would happen to my favorite jacket
"Don't worry theoretically, or as I've observed anyways, your body has this barrier that can protect anything you have contact too, even if your clothes are in the way." She informed me
"Wait are you sure?" I continued to ask
My sister shrugged "I did say theoretically but it could work, we just have to try."
"How 'bout the cameras? surely they're watching."
My sister groaned, "Ughh, its fine I told them I needed to some tests in private"
"And they didn't get suspicious?"
"Just go already!" My sister shouted pushing me into the treadmill
"Okay, okay calm down" I said positioning myself on the track
"Alright, now let me get to the observation deck then I'll signal you when ready." She said running for the deck
I saw Mikasa on the deck looking at me, I gave her a wink before Kate gave me the signal
Did I just do that??
Kate gave me the signal then I ran. My speed was slow at first, barely registering on the charts then as the track sped up, so did I.
I felt a surge of energy run through my spine and down to my legs as they moved so quickly that my legs were just a blur. Strangely I felt fine as I swung my arms in front of me in a sort of Flash style run.
"Its reaching 100 kph, 120 kph" My sister counted "and thats it" She continued as she stopped the treadmill.
"Whoa, how fast did I go?" I asked
"Around 150 kilometres per hour." She answered
Oh god! I was that fast? I asked myself suprised at my potential.
I spotted Misaka also surprised looking at the data, that somehow made me feel satisfied
"Oh! I forgot I had a meeting." Kate said slapping her forehead while looking at her watch, as she ran off she asked Misaka to show me the exit.
"Bye sir" Misaka said formally while hailing me a cab.
"Please just call me Adrian." I said while entering the cab then a bidding farewell to the lovely lady.
As I left the to go home I looked back at her and for a moment I saw her blush.
