Passage from Captain's Log on the SS. Cornelius

Date: 15th January 1865

43rd Day of Voyage

It is I, Captain Davis Montauk reporting my condition from the Cornelius, our journey has been safe so far, though conditions are at still worrisome, I am sure that we will arrive safely in London.

Recently flashes of a new utopia have crossed my mind, a world filled tall structures made of glass and futuristic, sleek automobiles that whizzed by me at incredible speeds. Everything seemed to shine brighter, there was not the typical looming sense of death hanging about the air

I am concerned about these visions as they become more vivid each day trapping me in its wonders. All I have to do is survive for one more week then I would get myself to a proper practitioner to have myself examined...

-----------------------

The ship rocked to and fro as Captain Davis continued wrote his entry, when he had finished he set down his ink pen and decided to take a rest for the rest of the voyage and let the navigator take care of the ship, but his rest was not long lived as one of his crew members barged into his quarters and started shouting for the him

"Captain, Captain, we need your help, the waves got bigger than we anticipated and the bow got damaged all to hell, we need you upfront boss!"

Captain Davis was expecting this and had already told the navigator earlier to find a much less riskier path but as usual his navigator decided otherwise and doomed them all to the afterlife. He heaved a sigh as he jumped off his bed and ran towards the cockpit, shouting commands and giving tiny bit of hope to the otherwise hopeless situation but that was quickly swept away as a massive wave hit the port side engulfing the ship in seawater

The wave crashed and tipped the boat over spilling the crew off-board with their captain into the cold waters below, though their death seemed too fast for the crew onboard, Captain Davis was a well trained soldier and reacted quickly to what had happened, he ran back to his quarters and grabbed his diary but unfortunately it was too late, he had already felt the ship tipping sideways, faster and faster as his back was slammed against the walls which broke easily and made way for water to seep in and eventually Captain Davis was in the sea trying to swim upwards to save his own life

Unfortunately, the cold had struck him and he was left floating unconscious underwater, he had lost his diary which gave insight to the futuristic world he had seen but this wasn't the end of Captain Davis. He had felt a searing heat across his face and a bright light which had made him calm as his body drifted unconsciously but not dead.

"You are a hero and a pioneer, though people might think you speak lies, persevere and in the end a great reward you shall receive." Captain Davis had said to himself when he had appeared days later in the shores of present day New York.
