The sound of thunder crashing down had woken me up from my unconscious sleep. I opened my eyes and sat up looking around. I was in a dark room, I felt myself sitting on something soft and as my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw where I was.
I was in my bedroom, though it was dimly lit I could recognise my cluttery desk directly opposite to my bed and the bookshelf facing me on the right side of the wall. I wondered if the kidnapping was just a dream and if the encounter with the two thugs was just a figment of my imagination or if I was finally losing my sanity. I walked towards the door knob and twisted it. I pushed the door open and was confronted with a scene that made me sure that I was going crazy.

Kate Hamilton was worried, she had messaged her brother several times and had not gotten a reply. She had always been protective of her younger brother since their parents had disappeared and when they had been separated after getting the opportunity to work at a leading medical institute, she had a hard time deciding whether to pursue her dreams or stay with her brother and eventually was pushed by Adrian after he was accepted to a proper college
Now she was sitting glumly in her office wondering what might have happened if she had stayed when suddenly Misaka Tori, her assistant, had broken her from her deep trance, "Miss, is something wrong?", Kate turned around and faced Misaka. "Uhm.. its nothing, just a lot of things on my mind right now." She said as she stood and paced the room. Misaka was curious, she had never seen her boss this distraught before. Something had to be wrong and she was wondering if it had something to do with Adrian.
"Are you sure miss." She continued to ask. Kate sighed and there was a moment of silence, she shook her head and sat back down with her head in her hands. "Kate... I'm worried about Adrian and with everything that's happening its just... confusing."
She felt hopeless and scared, she had just now realised the gravity of the situation how his brother's abilities could reshape the world but most of all she was scared that she could no longer keep her brother safe from these situations, all she wanted was to be there for her brother, to keep him safe. After all, she was the one who took care of him after they were left alone to survive without anyone to look over them.
Kate stood up from her seat and wiped a tear from her face. "I have to go now Misaka. You can go too if you want." She said to her assistant as she straightened her white lab coat and took her suitcase and bag from the table.
"Actually, I would like to stay here a few more minutes just to run down the security checks and some maintenance, if that's okay with you Miss." She adjusted the straps of her bag. "That's fine just make sure to keep everything the way it was."
"Of course Miss. Have a nice evening."
"Thank you, Misaka." She said with a smile as she headed out.

Kate had decided to confront her brother and talk about the implications of his abilities, and also to just catch up on what's been going on.
She had approached the front door of his apartment room. She knocked but no one had answered. She knocked again
Still no answer.
She twisted the doorknob and opened the door.
Kate saw a bat on the floor beside the couch and inspected it. A feeling of shock had crept up her spine as she saw that it had blood on it. She shouted her brothers name but there was no response.
"No,no,no." she panicked and started looking for clues around the house trying to figure out what had happened to Adrian. Kate looked back at the doorway she had entered in and had noticed marks that looked like something or someone has been dragged across the ground.
Kate had grabbed the bat and headed back to her lab with burning desperation to find out what occurred at her brother's household

Misaka was busy cleaning the several scientific equipment her boss had around her office when she had heard the door slam open. She jumped, startled by the noise and looked back towards the doorway and had seen Kate marching in carrying a bloody bat. "Uhm... miss, what's happening." Misaka followed her boss who was pacing around searching for her petri dishes.
"There's not enough time to tell you Misaka, it's extremely urgent." Kate had managed to get some of the blood onto the petri dish and scanned it into her computer, which, weirdly enough, had a medical database gathered from the hospitals around New York. Misaka looked at the screen and had seen the software work to recognise the sample.
The computer beeped and displayed a full medical dossier on Adrian Hamilton. Misaka turned to face Kate who was sweating nervously. "Call the police Misaka, Adrian's been kidnapped." Her eyes widened with fear. "Call the police!" Kate snapped. Misaka grabbed the phone and dialed 911.
