I always thought having super speed would be cool but right now.. I'm not so sure. It turns out not only was body affected by the powers but so was my mind, I've been finding it hard to focus at almost everything but even if the slightest touch of a fly could cause me to lose my attention.
I have to find away to control this or I'm going to go insane I thought to myself as I sat on my couch, waiting for Kate to call
She's the only one that can help me now... maybe. I continued to think but my thoughts were interrupted when my phone rang.
I checked the screen, it was an unknown number but I still picked up.
"Hello, Who is this?" I asked.
"It's Misaka, Miss Kate wanted me to call you for another appointment."
"Great, I'll be there by around 3 in the afternoon." I said as I ended the call without even saying goodbye.
------------------------
I arrived back at the building where Kate was there to greet me at the entrance.
"I need to talk to you in a more private area." She said pulling my arm, dragging me towards an alleyway on the right side of the building as her lab coat fluttered in the wind by her rush.
"Uhh.. what did you drag me here for?" I asked.
"Shh.. keep your voice down." She warned. "This is as far as I can go without security being suspicious." Kate continued.
"Oh, what's the problem then?" I asked whispering as softly as I can.
Kate had asked me where I was when my powers started.
"In an alleyway at-" I struggled to remember "Uhh 5th street near the supermarket." I continued to recall. I saw Kate's eyes widen with shock at what I had just said.
"Oh my god, this explains it." She muttered to herself while walking briskly back and forth. " But that would mean-" Kate continued then turned towards me with her bright brown eyes shimmering with excitement.
"I think I know how you got your powers but it would be impossible unless you had made a whole new compound that could change the way we see physics and biomechanics." She started getting even more excited.
"How are you sure?" I asked
"Well. I studied a sample of your skin and it had a strange new composition, it seemed to have an unidentified compound bonded to it so I studied it and found traces of the element on the exact alleyway where you got your speed." She explained.
I sighed and just tried to take in all the information that I had just been told.
"So you mean to tell me that I changed physics entirely?"
"Yup" She replied.
"We cannot tell this to anyone let alone your company who would probably torture me and take tests... oh wait." I said sarcastically .
Kate rolled her eyes, "That was before I found out that you created this new compound out of nowhere, now come on we've got some testing to do!" She declared dragging me again into her lab.
------------------------
We arrived at the lab and instantly, Kate let go of my hand and went towards her various instruments as I watched her prancing around her office searching for.
Just seeing her happy reminded me of every family christmas we had, the snow, the laughs, it was fun seeing her bright smile and joyous mannerisms, how she always rubbed her nose when she was happy. It was fun and well until... never mind.
"I still have a minor problem about something, I can't seem to be able to focus on things, its as if my mind drifts somewhere else whenever I stay still, I mean I know that I am not the best listener but still..." I explained but she didn't seem to notice me as she was building a setup on her table
"Uhh sis." I continued but she was still building her contraption.
"Just do some meditative exercises it'll be fine." Kate said waving her hand at me.
I sighed and turned towards the window in the office, wait was this window here before. I wondered as I gazed out at the snowy road.
Huh, it's already December, I guess time flies does fly fast.. I thought to myself
