(Gabi's POV)
Its New Years Eve. Kyndel will be here for about another month and a half. To my surprise, he has been nice these last few days, but I bet it's just because the holidays are here.
Speaking of, for New Years we all drove to Chicago yesterday. We bought river cruise tickets somewhere near the city. It goes from 10 pm to 1 am. It's 8:30 now and we chill in our hotel room. It has 2 bedrooms and 1 main room. Kyndel and the Barnett parents took one bedroom and my mom and I took the other.
I sit in my room laying down watching TV. My mom and everyone else are in the main room I think.
I turn on Supernatural because Supernatural is life."Is that all you watch?" A deep handsome voice asks. I look up to see Kyndel, his brown hair styled, his tux fitting nicely against his lean body. It's moments like this where I still, despite everything, wish he was still mine. My thoughts are disrupted.
"You awake?" Kyndel asks."Uh-yeah the show is good." I say stupidly. Kyndel walks over to me expressionlessly. He sits on the side of the bed.
"What's it about?" He asks.
"Are you ok?" I ask him, concerned.
"Yeah, why?" He says fairly sassily.
"You're not being a jerk." I say blandly.
"My mom says I'm supposed to be nice to you now. I'm not aloud to mess with you anymore." He says and rolls his eyes.
"Mhm. We will see how long that lasts." I poke back. A small smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth, but quickly is forced away.
"So what is it about?" He repeats.
"It's about these two brothers, Sam and Dean, who hunt monsters and demons and other supernatural things. That's the most basic description I can give you right now. The plot is kinda crazy. You would have to watch it to understand." I respond. There isn't really a way you can describe what Supernatural is without sounding crazy.
"That sounds pretty cool I guess. I'll have to check it out sometime." He says.
"Yeah. Heads up if you do, you're 11 seasons behind. There are 12 seasons." I say.
"Ok." He says. He begins to get up and leave the room. "By the way you might wanna get ready soon. We're leaving in like an hour. You need to do your makeup." He says in a girly voice. I laugh and get out of bed.
When he leaves, I get undressed and put my tight, fairly long, red dress on. I head into the bath room and begin my makeup.
I end up doing a smoky eye with fairly thick wings and red lipstick that matches the dress. I braid my hair around the crown of my head into a waterfall braid.
My mom walks in and freezes in her path."Oh honey... how did he ever leave you. You look beautiful." My mom says. I laugh.
"Thanks mom. You look great!" I say. My mom wears a nice black dress and curled her short black hair. Mrs. Barnett comes in.
"Gabi you look great!" She says."Thank you so do you!" I say back. She wears a short green lace dress with her long blonde hair straightened.
"Girls it's time to go!" Mr. Barnett calls.
The moms walk ahead, I quickly put on my silver 3' heels, then proceed out the door. I find everyone standing around the door. I see Kyndel standing next to his dad, his face expressionless, his jaw dropped. I blush a little at his reaction.
Kyndel holds the door and everyone heads out. I'm the last to leave. He releases the door but right before he catches it, he stops me.
"You look amazing." He says and gestures for me to walk."Thank you. So do you." I say in a cheery voice. He slightly smiles, rolls his eyes, and gives me the lightest push out the door.
The car ride took a good half hour and we arrived at 9:45. We board the large ship. It has 3 decks, rooms with TVs and small balconies outside on the bottom, wine bars on middle level, and an elevated top deck for extra space. Most people stay on the middle deck and begin to order a drink as the cruise takes off along the river. The parents get drinks while I go off to the top deck where there is only about 7 people.
The view is incredible. You can see the city of Chicago lit up, with big buildings farther, and small restaurants and shops along the river.
I stay up against the rail for what must be an hour, enjoying the quiet, relaxing, smooth ride.
Suddenly, I feel a bump on my back and a lot fall over the rail, two unsteady hands pull me back from the rail. I turn to see Kyndel, wabbling infront me. His eyes are dilated. He begins to speak."The lights are sooooo pretty. Like you."
"Kyndel, how many drinks have you snuck?" I ask. He's not fooling anyone.
"Pft. Only like 6." He responds.
"Ok let's get you out of here. I don't want you going overboard." I say. I grab his hand and lead him through the crowds to the lower level. I open a bedroom door and find it empty. I lead Kyndel to the bed and help him into it.
"Tuck me in." He says with a smile. I sigh.
"Would you like a bedtime story too?" I ask sarcastically.
"No." he says faintly. I turn around and begin to walk out.
"Wait Gabi. Please stay with me." He says."Fine." I say. I turn the tv on for him and let him be. I walk out to the balcony, leaving the door open so I can monitor the drunk boy.
Who knows how long it's been since I walked out here. I hear the tv in the background. A few minutes later Kyndel walks out and joins me on the balcony, still drunk but not as much as before. Id say he's stable now but still intoxicated.
"Gabi. I have something to tell you."
"I'm listening."
"I'm gonna be honest with you. When I broke up with you, it was because I wanted what's best for you. I'll only drag you down. I'm not as smart as you, as kind as you, as good of a person as you. I'm bad for you. That's why I left and tried to get you over me." He says. I remain in shock as I take in the information I just heard. My thoughts are interrupted as a countdown starts on the tv.

Suddenly, Kyndel's lips press against mine. I don't fight it. His hands wrap around my waist and pull me close. He breaks apart after a few seconds.
"Happy New Years." He says. He walks back in the room and falls into the bed. My feet carry me to the bed before my mind can register what is happening.
Kyndel pulls me into him and holds me close.
"I want you so much. I want you to be mine again but I can't be selfish." He says."Be selfish." I say in response. For the rest of the cruise, we lay down together. We then get off, and leave like nothing happened.
