I opened the back door, trying to reduce the amount of sound that came from its creaking hinges. Unfortunately my Mum and Dad were at the dining table just inside, drinking a cup of tea each. I tried sneaking past, but my clumsiness got in the way as I stubbed my toe on the door,
"ow ow ow".
"Hello Sophie," my Mum said turning to face me, "Would you like to tell us where you have been at this time at night?" I stood no chance, for another time this evening.
"Umm....ummm....well.." I tried to form words but again like earlier I wasn't able to.
"Sophie, just tell us" my Dad commanded me, something in his voice, weighing on my shoulders, telling me I had to do what he said.
"Dad trust me you wouldn't believe me if I told you," I said making my way to the door.
"Try me" he threw back at me, stopping me in my tracks. My mum patted the seat next to her, motioning for me to take it. I took it ready to start my story.
"I was up at Honey-cone mansion, with the 6 kids who live there," my Dad interrupted me
"Those kids are a nice bunch," I looked around at anything apart from him,
"You really don't know them," I mumbled to myself.
"Oh but sweetie we do," My mum said, I looked at her shocked,
"Oh yes sweetie we know all about the vampires and your wolfy self," I nearly fell off my chair,
"WHAT!" how could they know, I thought know one knew. Next someone's going to say the whole world knows.
"Mum you must be wrong, I don't have a wolf side," I tried to save myself from the mess, mentally hitting myself in the head for letting this happen.
"Sophie don't hide it, we've known since your first shift," my Dad said, "Do you really think we wouldn't notice our only daughter sneaking out every now and then. Plus there's the point that I'm also a wolf shifter." I just looked at my Dad, everything really did seem to be happening me tonight.
"How...how...how?" I tried to get out, now I really was tongue tied. I gaped like a fish. I thought I was the only one. I thought I had kept it hidden. Well now I know I'm hopeless at all of this.
"Darling I think we should let her go to bed, she looks so tired," my Mum said, "We can talk about this in the morning." And with that they got up from the table and went upstairs. Half in shock I soon followed them, sluggishly making my way up the steps that seemed to go on forever. Reaching my room, I jumped straight for my bed and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was sound asleep, into a world of unwelcome dreaming.
My sleep was restless like most night. The darkness always closing in and red eyes peering out. It was always the same and I could always tell it was Jordan, Eddy, Ebonnie, Josh, Georgia, Max and Olly, but there was also one more, someone with eyes blood red, studing me from the distance: the eyes of an evil vampire, that's what I read once. The blood red eyed vampire always makes his way around the other vampires slowing taking them out, turning them to dust like a memory disappearing, till finally it is only me left standing alone. I know Olly told me to not get involved with vampire things, but even though I knew it wasn't my destiny, I sure would make it. Dreams were made to become reality, and that's what scared me the most. I didn't particularly like the vampires but no one deserves to die, which I had interpreted from my dream would happen at some point. Towards the end of the dream it would always be the red eyed vampire circling me like its prey, that's when I would wake up, close to tears and nearly screaming.
Drops of sweat dropped down the side of my face, as the dream still haunted me every time I closed my eyes, even if it was a blink. I took a deep breath, calming my pacing heart down. There was a slight change to my dream last night. The vampires hadn't died, they had just kind of half faded into the background, and Olly had joined me being the last to stand. I had changed something in the fates and now something new was going to happen. I looked to my left to see it was half six and time for a shower. The radio started playing on Kiss fm as I jumped into the shower in my on-suite. Letting the hot water pour down my back, calming my nerves, the windows steamed up. A harsh shiver ran down my spine, something bad had just happened, my wolf scenes could tell, but what it was I did not know. Finishing up in the shower and getting ready for school, the realisation sunk in I was going to have to see the vampires at school, just my luck, could this week get any more stressful and weird? Just before I left the house to go to school my Mum ran to me,
"Sweetie, call me when you get to school," a worried look shining in her eyes.
"Sure thing mum," I said kissing her cheek, "bye" I called then closed the door behind me.
