I never wanted this

      My eyes fluttered open as I stretched to try to brush off the sleep that only seemed to start minutes before. I looked around my room it hasn't changed much in the past couple years my mom and I redid it as a birthday present when I turned 15 which was a special year because it was when I shifted for the first time. The walls soft teal with the adjoined bathroom being a rich blue with all the tiling being a gleaming white. I turn to look at the clock by my bed and groan "Dammit 5:30....". I slowly swing my legs over the edge of my bed pushing down my plush white comforter and walk over the open up the doors to my small balcony to look at the ocean before I shower. I should probably take this moment to introduce myself I'm Daniella Conway and my father Aiden is the Gamma (3rd in command) of the Blue Moon Pack in Maine. My eyes looked out as the sun was coming up over the water it was simply breath taking I really did love our home, but something inside me knew that I really needed to break out on my own. I'm 17 and I'll be 18 next week which in the pack meant you were a full adult now and expected to be with your mate. Unfortunately for me mine didn't seem to be here in our pack or in our neighboring pack that we were very close to for that matter. To make matters worse my best friend Derek whose the future alpha found his last week when an alpha from a pack in Virginia visited with his daughter. Mom's coming I heard Alexa in the back of my mind. I actually don't know what I would do without her she's the best I could ask for in a wolf. "Darling, you should get ready for training." my mother said from the doorway. "Yea I'm doing that right now mom" I replied as she walked back downstairs. I turned to walk into my walk in closet grabbing a pair of tight work out shorts and a work out tank before underwear and a sports bra then I picked up my running shoes before walking into the bathroom for a quick shower. After a quick shower I brushed my teeth as I toweled myself off before getting dressed. I sighed looking at myself in the mirror hearing Don't worry our mate is out there waiting for us... Alexa stated in a low growl at the memory that came forward. 

*****Flashback******

2 years ago

I had curled my hair just the way he liked it, because it was really an important day. Today's the day I've been waiting for Derek turns 15 and after this we'll be mates I just know it. We'd been on and off again dating for two years, but there has always been something special between us. I dressed in a light green strapless dress with some wedge heels and make my way out of the house walking down the street to his house. He would have completed his first shift last night and as soon as we'd see each other today we would know. I saw him out in his front yard waiting for me looking up he smiled....but nothing. I felt nothing nothing at all besides Alexa growling saying I told you he wasn't our mate. 

Last Week 

I really didn't want to be at this meeting. I wanted to finish my run on the beach and Alexa agreed with me. I sat in the comfy leather sectional with my legs crossed as Derek walked into his fathers office smiling at me as he sat down. "I can see the annoyance on your face" he said with a smirk. I stuck my tongue out at him, but laughed. "You don't want to be here more than I do" I responded laughing. There was truth to that, but secretly we both were really happy to be learning about our place within the pack even when it is extremely boring like meeting other alphas who were normally a lot older than our fathers. We both turned as we heard the door click that's when she walked in she was gorgeous and I was nothing in comparison. I looked at Derek whose eyes were dilating as he stared. "...no" left my lips right as I heard him say "mate". 

***end flashback***

"I know Alexa I know" I try to quiet her as I walk out my bedroom to meet my father to run training for the pack warriors. I pushed the feeling of intense loneness down saying "Ready Dad?" looking at him sitting at the kitchen counter smiling he kisses my mother goodbye before he nods. "You're running this one princess" he states as we walk over to the field we use for training that's across from my house. A huge grin spreads across my face as we walk up to the pack who are waiting for us. Cole who is probably my only remaining person in the pack that is holding me here besides my parents and also the future beta elbows one of the other warriors pointing at me as he says "You see that grin on her face?" the other guy nods saying "so?". Cole starts laughing saying "We're fucked".
