The basement was dark, and gloomy. Drops of acid-like water fell from the ceiling in a rhythmic manner.

"Ugh! This place is absolutely disgusting," Dorothy sneered.

"Why does it matter," Emma sighed before continuing "The world as we know it is gone, and we're doomed."

"It'll be alright once we get out of here," Matt said putting his arm around Emma. Emma shoved it off.

"Don't you ever do that again!" she yelled. Everyone laughed.

"We have to find a way to get out of here, and maybe get some grilled cheese on the way..." Arthur said

"I agree," I said.

Just then we heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs. The door creaked open and then, Alvin came in.

"Why did you put this down here!" Emma screamed.

"You guys are trying to escape. No one escapes. As to you Matt, stop scaring the new arrivals with stories of Patrick," Alvin smirked sarcastically.

"His name was Peter," Matt said defensively.

"Whatever. All you peasants are the same ta me," Alvin said annoyed.

"You better let us leave. Right. Now." Emma said sternly.

"Sorry, you're out of luck. You'll die on your own. I can show you to your rooms if you'd like," Alvin laughed sarcastically.

"Yes please! Get me out of here!" Dorothy squealed.

"Right this way!" Alvin led us up the stairs to the second floor. We finally got to this long illuminated hallway with a room on both sides. "Matt, Arthur, this is the boy's bedroom," he gestured to the door on the left. He then hit a round blue button on the wall above a sign that said 'boy's bedroom'. The door opened and Arthur and Matt hesitantly went inside. "Come on girls, your room is down the hall."

"When can we come out of our rooms? It's only 6:00, and we haven't had dinner yet," I asked.

"We will let you settle in for a little, you will be able to come for dinner at around," Alvin pauses to check his watch "8:00."

"Cool," Emma said laid back. Alvin pushed the button and the doors opened just as they did for the boy's bedroom. We walked inside and the doors shut with a slam. The inside was better than the basement, but still gloomy. It was also really huge! The ceiling were really high and dozens of bunkbeds lined the walls. There were girls everywhere, on beds, doing make-up, or playing with toys. Dorothy and Emma found an empty bed in the corner and I walked over to the bunk next to theirs. I dropped my stuff and flopped onto the bottom bunk. I llaid there for a few seconds before...

"HELLO!" Said a voice cheery voice. A girl's head swung down from the top bunk. She had long brown hair, blue glasses and freckles.

"Ahhhhhh!" I screamed jumping back in my place and hitting my head while I was at it.

"Oh, sorry to scare you. I just never had a bunk mate before!" The girl apologized.

"I can see why..." I mumbled, rubbing my head but she didn't hear me. "What's your name?"

"The name's Rebecca. Rebecca Kato," Rebecca said holding out her hand for me to shake. I grabbed it and shook it.

"I'm Angie. Angie Cecil," I respond as Dorothy and Emma came over.

"Hey Angie, umm who's that?" Dorothy questioned.

"This is Rebecca, she's my bunk mate."

"Oh, so I was thinking that we go to eat. I'm starving,"

"B-but didn't Alvin say we had to wait until 8? It's only 6:32," Emma joined in.

"Alvin can't stop us. Come on," Dorothy lead the way, and Emma and I reluctantly followed. After a few steps I looked back to find that Rebecca was sadly watching us leave. You can't just leave her, I thought.

"You coming?" I asked. She smiled and jumped down from the bunk and ran to catch up.

When we got to the door, Emma pushed it. The door was sealed tightly and was made from a metal that was hard as a rock "There's no handle here! It's locked!"

I was confused at first but then I remembered the button Alvin pressed to get in. I found a similar looking button and pressed it. There was a long pause and then finally the door opened. Whoosh.

"Let's go!" Dorothy yelled, triumphantly putting her fist in the air, and we walked out.
