The Misadventures of Emerald

PEARL AND I JUST SWITCHED PLACES!

So I was just writing in my notebook about the hovercraft experience when I kind of needed to use the bathroom. I walked into my bathroom door, and apparently the door took me straight into Pearl's room. I don't think I mentioned this yet, but Pearl and I are just friends. Don't get the wrong idea, we USED to be boyfriend and girlfriend, but a certain dance party incident demoted our relationship. Anyway, I was REALLY confused why I ended up in Pearl's house, but then I heard voices coming from the other rooms. I guessed it was Jasper and Minium, Pearl's 2 brothers. I once been over to her house for a sleepover, but on that day, Minium decided to introduce himself and Jasper by pouring some water on my hands to see if I pee my pants. Anyway, confused as I was, I decided the most logical thing to do was to leave and get back to my house, but not before using the bathroom. After I was done flushing the toilet, I headed straight for the front door, but Minium stopped me and said, "Where are you going, Pearl? Don't you remember? Mom and Dad told you to babysit me!"

Did you notice anything wrong with what Minium just said? I'm clearly not Pearl. So I responded with, "Uhh, excuse me?"

"Pearl! Can you not hear or what? Mom and Dad clearly told Jasper to babysit you while you babysit me."

This is still making no sense to me. "Minium, you saw me before, I'm Emerald. You know, the guy you tried to make pee his pants?"

Minium giggled a little bit but then looked puzzled, and so was I. What the heck was going on? I ran back to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Let me just say that I was more than surprised to see PEARL there. I slapped myself out of that little hallucination there and STILL saw Pearl in that mirror! Then it occurred to me: I wasn't hallucinating, I was Pearl. I had to pinch myself a couple of times to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Sadly, I didn't wake up, meaning this wasn't a dream. Walking out of the bathroom again, I asked Minium what's going on, but he made a disapproved nod and said, "Pearl! How can you forget again! You're babysitting me!"

Whoops! I guess I forgot what was going on while looking and slapping and pinching in front of that mirror. I had no babysitting experience so this was all completely new to me. I guess Pearl never had experience as well, because Minium pointed to the refrigerator, and there were 2 notes sticking to it. One of them was for Jasper, and the other was for Pearl. I read the one for Pearl and it was a list of how to babysit Minium. Brush his teeth, feed him breakfast, tie his shoes, you name it. I then read the one for Jasper, and it was pretty much the same thing only except it was how to babysit Minium AND Pearl. I ignored Jaspers note and read Pearls over and over and over again. I still can't figure out why I was trying to memorize it if I could've just put it in my pocket or something. Whatever. Later that night, I was in the middle of brushing Miniums teeth when Jasper decided to barge in and ask me if I needed his help. "Umm... no... I'm fine." I answered. I didn't need any help, Minium hasn't been driving me nuts or anything... until the next day that is. That morning, Minium seemed anxious for me to get up, because he was bouncing on the bed I was using. "Pearl! Get up, get up! Pearl! I say get up! Get up, Pearl!"

"Who are you, my dad!?" I said, sounding very tired. I looked at the clock. It was 5:00 in the morning. I asked, "Why the heck are you up wanting me up so early?"

Minium didn't answer my question but instead ran out of the room. I dragged myself out of bed to feed him breakfast. Oh, but Jasper decided to barge again into the kitchen pouring milk in Miniums cereal. Jasper was acting strange these past 2 days. Usually, he just hangs in the basement for... I don't know... eternity? Things got a little bit crazier after that. For one thing, Jasper REALLY wanted to help, which still baffles me on why he was doing this. Minium was acting insane in every way you can imagine! He was bouncing on walls left and right, yelling, "WHEEEEEE...!" while Jasper, for the 400th time, asks to help.

I couldn't take any more of this, so I ran to Pearls room and locked the door. I found out why Minium was acting so jumpy: There was an empty plastic bag lying in the middle of the room labeled, "jelly beans" I assume Minium ate all the jelly beans in that bag, if anything else, I don't know what. Anyway, I figured while I was trapped in Pearls room, I might as well dig around and see what's up. I found a notebook kind of like mine underneath the bed (which is actually where I put MY notebook) which, to me anyway, was very convenient. I opened it up, and here's what I found:

"So I was just writing in my notebook about my last experience when I needed to use the bathroom. When I went in the bathroom door, I was taken to Emeralds room."

That sounded familiar didn't it? Well guess what? Her notebook was FULL of familiar stuff. Here's another one I found:

"So I was eating dinner with Mom, Dad, and Minium when suddenly a random Earthquake occurred. Of course, my family didn't notice. I ran up to my room to find out what caused it only to be quite surprised that a monster truck was sitting in front of my window."

Then I realized that if Pearl is running into the same weird stuff as I have... well at least I'm not the only one. I was about to read MORE stuff from her notebook, but Minium and Jasper somehow broke the door down, and they looked even crazier than ever! SO crazy, that I jumped out of the window the second I saw them. After that, I ran for my life. I couldn't stand another second in there. Then I saw me running out of what looked like MY house. (Did I forget to mention that Pearl and I live only a few houses away?) At first, I thought it was my clone, but then I remembered that I was Pearl, so I was guessing that Pearl was me. We were running for about 30 seconds before we almost smacked into each other. After we said hi, we somehow went back into our normal bodies. I was me, and Pearl was Pearl again.

Then our conversation got started by me saying, "Oh, hey Pearl. How was your day?"

"My day got a little too crazy, Emerald." Again, with the familiarity. She continued. "Ruby said that I was babysitting her while your mom and dad were gone. I was like, 'what?' and she pointed to the refrigerator with 2 notes on it. One of them was for you and the other was for Sapphire."

"My day was the exact same way!" I said, pretending to sound surprised.

Pearl then said, "In your room, I saw your notebook, and it looks like both of us keep on running into craziness."

"Tell me about it."

After that, we just kind of stared at each other. I don't know about Pearl, but I was struggling to believe that it wasn't just me running into weirdness left and right. Eventually, I heard my mom and Pearl heard her mom from the distance. Apparently, they just got home. "Emerald! Get your butt over here this instant!" I ran toward my mom while Pearl ran toward hers. "Emerald! You were supposed to babysit Ruby, not make goo-goo eyes in front of our neighbors! You're grounded for a week!"

"Aw, man." I groaned. I waved Pearl good-bye and now I'm sitting in my room, still grounded. This has got to be the 2nd craziest day yet! (The first still being that one with Godzilla) Also I checked back towards my other notebook entries, and apparently I forgot to mention Sapphire. Sapphire is my older sister, and (Like Jasper...) she practically LIVES in the basement, I'm talking like she stays there for 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week! It's insane!
