"Here goes nothing" I said to both myself and the whale as I traversed through this basement to get Pearl that astounding... thing. For a basement, it was dark, which was strange considering I passed out in this store not too long ago. It was still morning, as opposed to it being evening when I first entered this place. Thankfully, there was a torch that just so happened to be hanging on the wall in the middle of the staircase to the basement. I then used the torch to... well... see. The basement itself looked kind of like a place where you would store that one drink I would always spot Dad occasionally drinking. I honestly don't know why he would drink it since it seems to just make him crazier. Anyway, there were barrels stuffed with that drink everywhere, and it just kept going and going... in fact... I had to walk for quite a while before I finally reached a stone wall. Standing in front of the wall, I looked around, and to my right was ANOTHER area for me to explore. It was through a thin opening, but upon squeezing myself in, I found that this new area was a BALLROOM. From the looks and sounds of it, the party was just getting started. Music started blasting through the speakers LOUD. It was so loud, that I had to go back to the previous room before I went deaf.
My ears were ringing so much, and it really, REALLY hurt. I was thinking about waiting until the party was over, but then I remembered something: Pearl's birthday. I forgot about it again! And considering I passed out on the day of the birthday party, I realized that that day was the day AFTER the party. I was depressed, but then I thought, "Wait! It might not be too late. Remember, Pearl runs into craziness, too. Maybe she couldn't have made it to MY birthday party as well."
That did it. That thought brought me the hope and courage to not give up. And so, I ventured forward... except... oh yeah... I can't. My ears were still ringing from the ballroom, so unless I didn't mind not being able to hear, (and I really minded) then I'm going to have to find a different method of going through there. I really couldn't think of anything, so I made my way back out of the basement to ask the whale if it had any ideas, and the first thing I heard was, "Darn it! A cliffhanger! I guess I'm going to have to wait before I find out how this story ends, and it better not take months to release the next one like the other stories."
Ignoring what it was talking about, I said, "Hey, whale."
"Emerald? You're back already?"
"I have to ask. If there was an ear shattering loud noise going on, and it was so loud that you could not even be in the same room as the source, what would you do?"
"I would use these." The whale pulled a pair of headphones from its pocket (do whales even have pockets?) and then said, "I always use these. Are these what you're looking for?"
I replied, "Yes. Thanks again, whale" and equipped the head phones.
Everything was so much more quiet. I could tell that the whale was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't tell what it was saying. Motivated, I went back through the basement and reached the ballroom again. Upon stepping inside, the music was still loud, but it was MUCH more tolerable. Happy to find out the headphones worked, I strolled through the ballroom and made it to the other side. That's when I found the person who was playing the music, or rather, the lack of one. No one was in the ballroom, so I assumed that whoever was in here last must've accidentally left the music on. I pushed the power button on the speakers and FINALLY it was nice and quiet in there. It felt GOOD not having to constantly listen to music. But then there came the age-old question: What and where was that amazing object I saw (The whole reason I entered the store was to examine and pick up something amazing I saw through a window)?
There were 2 doors in the back of the ballroom, but neither of them had that amazing object. Upset, I started hoping there was another room I had missed in the previous room, so I started leaving, but before I could, the exit door closed on me. I still even right now have no idea what and how the door closed. I looked around, looking for an answer, but it was just me and the ballroom. I shrugged, then started to open the door, but it was locked. Again, I still have zero clue how this door could automatically close and lock itself, but it did. I was trapped.
