chapter 16 Kat’s POV

“Woah where are we?” Jade asks.

Hunter is standing around us with police and the ambulance.

“You guys passed out when I told you to go farther” Hunter said that but I don't think that it is entirely true.

“Hey Jade did you have this weird dream about the clump of trees disappearing and the old house just like mine and the ghost and...” “I did but we can talk about it later. Right now we need to get our homework done.

“Huuuunnnnttteeeeeerr”

“What?” Wow, he sounds pissed

“You’re the reason we are here so you are gonna help us with our homework”

“As long as it means I can help with that ex we were discussing earlier”

“Sorry to say, there is no ex”

“But you said-”

“Just get your butt over here and help us!”

After about an hour of homework, we were finally done. Hunter was smarter than he made himself look, but we were still smarter than him. I looked up and that’s when I noticed it. Our proof.

Hunter had a giant bruise on his forehead and a needle mark on his neck.

“Hunter what really happened back there?”

“Well, I told you, when I-”

“Cut the crap Hunter! I know your lying! I know what Jade and I did and felt was real! For gods sake you have a giant bruise on your head and I can see the needle mark!”

“What?”

“You really don’t know do you?”

“What are you talking about Kat?”

Jade backed me up right then which was a very good thing since I was on the brink of whacking the sense into him. I think Jade could tell.

“Go look in the mirror”

Jade and I followed Hunter into the bathroom where everything seemed to come back to him. His eyes widened and then narrowed and a ton of emotions overcame his face, betrayal, hatred, and so many more. When he was done remembering, he looked at us with sorrow in his eyes.

“I’m so sorry to drag you guys into this…” I walked over to him and told him not to cry, and Jade started cracking up.

Hunter and I both looked over at Jade at the same time. “What?” we both snapped.

“Noth… Nothing,” She managed out between laughs, “You guys just look like lovebirds thats all”

Hunter and I jumped apart and I hit my head on a towel rack. Suddenly I remembered something I had blocked out.

flashback

“Hunter! look out!”

We had been fighting the two men with needles while the one I had kicked was grabbing a needle that was on the table and throwing it at Hunter.

“Now it can’t be reversed!” sneered the man who had stabbed Hunter’s neck. The man stepped back onto the tray of needles and stabbed himself in the foot.

It was too late and I had to make sure I stayed alive, so I turned my back on Hunter and faught

End of flashback

“Kat? Kat are you ok?” Hunter asked with a worried tone

“Ya. I’m fine. I also know why you couldn’t remember what happened, and your memory will continue to fail if we don’t go back and get the antidote”
