Damn it's dark in here.. I can hardly see. As if reading my thoughts, shade appeared beside me bringing light to the area. I should be careful. Don't know what to expect. I raised The Last Word and slowly made my way deeper into the compound.
"Uh, David, is that thing supposed to be glowing?" Alessia pointed towards a large crystal in the middle of the room, which in turn, was surrounded by acolytes.
"Looks like they're worshipping it or something." My visor zoomed in so I could get a better look. "It looks like there's some sort of gas inside of it. That's weird."
"Should we tell Cayde?
"We'll document it. Shade, do a room scan. And do a scan of that crystal thing too." Shade appeared beside me
and floated slowly over to the strange obelisk, out of sight of the hive."What should we do?" Alessia spoke up breaking the silence in the room.
"Well, this is scouting. But where's the harm in a little target practice?" I smirked under my helmet and pulled the hammer back on my handcannon. "Let's rock."
I leapt out from behind cover my cloak billowing behind me and pulled the trigger popping off several shots
Several acolytes dropped, white mist spraying from where their heads were seconds before. I rolled across the hall finding cover behind a small crate and peeked over to see Alessia above everyone from a balcony, a soft glint of her sniper scope illuminating the area. I held up two fingers and pointed to a large doorway signaling I was about to move. It's now or nothin. I vaulted the crate with one hand, laying down suppressing fire to cover my escape. I leapt backwards and pulled a second hand cannon from my belt, The Ace of Spades. I fired off several more rounds dispatching the few acolytes that remained in the room before rolling backwards and springing back to my feet.
"Flashy." Alessia spoke through the comlink and laughed.
"You know you love it." I fired finger guns towards her and she laughed again. "Come on. Let's get going. We're almost done here."
She leapt down from the balcony, activating double jump to cushion the fall and jogged up to me slinging Patience and Time over her shoulder. "Well, let's finish up shall we?" She jogged ahead and I stood for a second admiring her form before jogging off after her.
. . . . . . . . . . . . ******** . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
This looks like it's important. My eyes scanned over some sort of control panel, several lights flashing as if it were trying to warn me."What is it David?" Alessia bounded over to me looking over my shoulder.
"That's a launch signal.. But I didn't know there were and missiles stored here.""I didn't either." I did a quick 360 looking for things that may have been out of place, but discovered nothing.
"I don't like this. Shade, relay the message to Cayde. This looks bad."
Shade beeped and sent the signal outward."I wonder what this does." she brushed her thumb over a panel covered in thick dust and several machines in the room loudly whirred to life. The sound was almost deafening.
"What is that?!" I shouted over the noise as the floor grinded open revealing a deep hole in the Earth. "Shade! Scan this now!" I shouted loudly and he did as he was told.
"It has indefinite depth! I've never seen anything like this! The Hive are up to something and we need to get back to the Tower!" Shade joined me in shouting and I looked over to Alessia who was already running towards the exit. I sprinted after her.
Shade, call the ship. We need to warn the vanguard, now! Alessia dematerialized showing that she had done the same. And in an instant I was in the cockpit of The Lance and was jetting off towards the tower.
This is bad. Really bad. We cant risk standing idly by.
