What's Two More

Chapter 32- A Learning Mommy

Da'Cia P.O.V: Kendra has been gone two days so now I'm by myself learning how to raise twins. Today the are three months old. Zayn has been gone since they were six weeks but Kendra has been here. I'm on the couch while they are in their swings. Of course just as I lay back Kaylen starts screaming. Before I can pick her up Kellan starts. I'm holding both of them trying to calm them down. I finally figure out that Kellan is hungry. Kaylen just is very fussy. I change her, burp her and rock her. I try to feed her but, she still is crying. Since Kaylen is crying she makes Kellan cry. I try everything to quiet them but they won't stop. I finally walk up stairs and run some water. I put them in the baby tubs and sing to them as I wash them. As I wash and sing to them they start calming down some. It's night time and I'm so tired. After washing them and putting them in their pjs I feed and rock them to sleep and lay them down in the bassinets since I don't feel like leaving my room once I lay down.
It's twelve am when Kaylen wakes up screaming. They hadn't been asleep for long and I was expecting a little longer before they woke up.I try to quiet her when I notice she's burning up. I gasp in surprise. I get up and try to find the thermometer. I want to scream when I can't. I've tried the baby Tylenol and kind of cool bath and anything I could. it's been two hours and both babies are screaming. When I pick Sophia back up I notice her temperature seemed to be going up. I kiss her head and lay her down. I pack the big diaper bag and put some warm jammies on them. After strapping them into their car seats in the car I head towards the ER. When I get there Kellan is asleep and Kaylen looks like she's about to cry again. I quickly pick her up. I get the stroller out put Kellan in it and get the diaper bag and walk in the ER. I feel out all the papers and crap for her to be seen. It's almosy 4 am when she is taken back. Both babies are upset and the nurse keeps giving me weird looks. When the doctor finally checks her out and all he tells me she has a double ear infection. I want to pull my hair out. He looks at Kellan's ears just to be positive he's sure. The doctor tells me I look tired and when I say both of them have collic he looks like whoa. I just nod.
It's almost six am when we leave the hospital. Kaylen is in pain and Kellan is tired and irriatable. I got some weird looks when I had to feed them in there but I could care less. When I got home I called Zayn. I had to call him three times before he answered. I don't care that he was asleep or whatever. "Hey love." Zayn answers half asleep. "Just called to tell ya that I just left the ER. Kaylen has a double ear infection." I say. "Wait, Is she ok?" Zayn asks quickly. I could tell that he was alert now. "Yes. She was worse than normal when I tried to put her to sleep last night. Then she woke up at midnight screaming and had a fever. I tried a lot of thing. At two I got them ready and went to the hospital. Then at 4 they got us back and we just left and sitting in their for almost 4 hours." I say heated. "I'm sorry babe." Zayn says. As we're talking both babies start screaming. I want to scream with them. Zayn tells me to put him on face time. I do. As I rock the babies Zayn starts singing. As he sings I hum and rock them. When we were at the ER they gave some medicine to Kaylen. I smile whenn the babies start to fall asleep. Zayn stops and I quickly start singing A La Nanita Nana and Zayn sings with me. I smile. He learned the song after hearing me sing it a butt load of times. By the time we are finished they are both asleep. I want to jump up and down. I continue to hold them and rock them for a bit before laying them down. "I love you! I love you! I love you!" I tell Zayn. I hear him chuckle. "How much sleep have you had?" he asks. "Um, Since ya been gone?" I ask. He nods. "I only get a few hours a night if that. I get some during the day. Even when Kendra was here I only had her help if I really needed it and that was during the day." I reply. I see him shake his head. "Lay down." he tells me. I do. As I lay down Zayn sings me to sleep.
It's been two days since I found out Kaylen had an ear infection. Thanks to her antibiotics she now has a diaper rash. After talking to the doctor she is put on some porbiotics. After a week I have two happy healthy babies again. I'm on the floor with them taking pictures. I decide to go out. I go to Bradford and spend the day with Zayn's family. His mom and sisters just love on them. His mom puts them in cute little bear hats and outfits. As I spend the day with them I'm so happy that they're my family to. His mom gives me some tips on different things to try with them. When I tell her I'm scared I'm not a good mom because of Kaylen's ear infection she smiles and says "Don't worry. You're just a learning mommy!" and gives me a hug.
