My First Crush

Chapter 12: Found you

“Ready to go?” my father asked.

“In a minute.” I shouted back from my bedroom.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, back to civilization, I told myself. My hair was longer and messier than it used to be, its colour was dull and it was all tangled up. I was skinner, I could touch bones that I guess I wasn´t quite supposed to, and paler, my skin was milky and some veins were so much more visible than before. Firstly, I thought about wearing some make-up to make a better performance, but I had no energy to put it on. It was really hot outside but I put on pants and a long bagy t-shirt, I had to cover up the bruises that had formed and my neglected skin. Plus the cloth hangged loose in my body and so my concernful slimness was not notable.

Everyone was in the car already, ready for our first stop, school. The trip was silent and short, it took just five minutes to get to school by car.

“You have your phone, don´t you? We will pick you up Saturday´s night by Nicole´s that´s okay?” my mum asked.

“Yes mum.” I nodded.

“Okay, bye sweet heart, be safe!” Dad and mum told me kissing my cheek.

“Bye sis, I am really going to miss you! Are you sure you want to do this… I could stay and look after you…” Nate told me speechless.

“No Nate it´s okay, go and have fun, I will see you in some months…” I told him. Without anticipation he crushed me into his chest giving me a huge hug, and I hugged him back instantly, he is skin was burning against mine.

“Take care of yourself.” he said kissing my forehead.

I nodded and headed out the car. As soon as they were gone I hid behind a tree to go over my plan.

1)    Get the fake doctor´s note that I´m ill and justify my absence to school.

2)    Get back home and sleep until it is Saturday.

In the blink of an eye, I left the fake doctor´s note in the school´s mailbox and started running back home.

The hotness in the air was terrible, as I ran with no energy sweat poured through my body. The day was so shiny that my eyes hurt I know that I had been locked in only for a week but I felt devastated. It was amazing how eating barely nothing for only one week can slim you like I was, and I was not grateful for that, indeed I wished I had eaten my breakfast instead of throwing it away because my energies were low and I felt like I would faint at any minute.

The diet I had been following was not something planned, I just never felt like eating but at the same time my stomach ached in need of food. Anyways I ignored it as much as possible and though I ate some food to keep the act real I lied a lot too.

I was only a few blocks away when I ferl hard into the pavement crashing against with my legs. I recovered myself quickly but my jeans had now some red stains because old wounds opened. 

My legs were mostly covered in bruises, some of them above my knee that where from the kidnap. The others is my lower leg were from the times I fell or let things fall into them and were mostly small cuts and violet spots, nothing that I cared about much anyway.

As I got to the door of my house I searched for the keys in my bag. I practically threw all the clothes in the grass as I desperately looked for them, but when it was finally empty I couldn´t find them! How could I been so stupid and forgot them! I was too exhausted to think straight so I just picked the first idea that went through my mind, lay under one tree in the front garden, in a place where I was not visible and stay there until Saturday.  

The heat was unbearable, the think cloth covering my body were covered in sweat and my skin was burning under them as I was was reaching for air that couldn´t be reach.

“Cece must be alone at home, her parents work and now Nate is not here”.

As time passed, without me noticing it, I was uncomfortable lying of the grass covered in soil in a total state of misery. It was until my “sleep” was interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching my house that I recoverd my conscience. Then I remembered what Nate said “Evan has been coming here every day…”. Damn why didn´t I think about it earlier!?

The huge trunk of the tree covered me so until now I was safe, I opened my eyes slightly to see what was going on when I saw three figures standing at the door´s house ringing the doorbell. Jason, Eric and Evan.

“It´s weird, the house seems empty” Eric spoke. Adrenaline run down my veins as I tried to stand up and run away because it was only matter of time for them to find me. But I couldn´t! I tried to silently move my body but I couldn´t! The pain I had been avoiding had woken up inside me and silent tears run down my cheek, and I was still motionless!

“Something must be wrong you know, I don´t think that Mr. and Mrs. Harper would let Cece alone in the house” Evan pointed out.

Then everything exploded. Jason turned round frustrated and started walking, when he suddenly froze. I shut my eyelids with strength, I didn´t want to face what was next after feeling his gaze over me, I knew he had saw me.

“GUYS!” he groaned loudly and seconds later I felt some warm hands grabbing my shoulders and a shiver run through me.

“Oh my god!” Eric gasped out and I felt the proximity of the three of them.

“Crap!” I heard Evan hissed and then I felt his hand holding mine.

“Come one let´s take her to the hospital!” Jason ordered.

“No, not the hospital! I´m okay please don´t take me there!” I heard my voice speaking in the middle of sobs as I broke away from them with the last ounce of strength I owed.

“Cece? What the hell happened to you?” Eric asked worriedly.

I was about to fall into the ground but instead I felt a pair of hand wrapping my waist to keep my balance. Calm down Cece it´s just Evan...

“Cece let us in the house so you can lay…” Jason said but I interrupted him.

“I have no keys” I whispered.

“Quickly to the car. Eric help me carry her” Evan commanded.

Before I could oppose I was lift into the air by another pair of muscular arms and, with no will to fight I left them take me. Huge mistake.
