Healing the Heart

Chapter 16

It was all I could think about all day. Stephen and Kendall, I can't quite take it all in.  I mean my friends Emma and Claire from Dublin were both pregnant and it didn't surprise me but I just can't see Stephen being a father.

My anger towards Kendall about not wanting me and Stephen being friends quickly passed. I suppose things between them was a lot more serious now.

''Hey'' Nicole said chirpily, taking a seat beside me

''Good morning''

''Whats the problem?''

''Oh nothing just a lot on my mind''  I said a little dazed

''You are really living the life hunny. What ever happened with you and Stephen?''

''Nothing''

'Oh, that why you're down?''

''Oh no! Of course not.''

''Well you're dating Jake I suppose thats bound to pull you down'' She blurted

''Whats that supposed to mean?'' I snapped

''Nothing, hes just..up to no good thats all''

I stood up in fury

''I am SICK of people telling me whats good for me!'' I roared then marched out of the room.

''A few of us are going Area tonight, please come. Its one of my last nights of freedom I suppose'' Stephen said over the phone

''Of course I'll go'' I said then hung up

I best get ready. I came downstairs with my hair done and wearing a black one shoulder bodycon cut out dress.

I jumped into a taxi and made my way to area. I was greeted at the door by Rebecca and Kyndra. They looked amazing, Becca in red bodycon dress and Kyndra in white.

I stayed chatting with them for a while.

''So Lauren, about 12 of us are heading to Palm Springs to stay in mine for a week, well Spring break.'' Rebecca said invitingly

''Oh woah, do you have a house there>''

''I do, and you're comming right?'' She smiled

''I'd love to''

''Oh great'' She smiled

I excued myself and made my way inside where Stephen and Kendall were at the bar. He gave me a look signalling me not to come over. I got the messege at least Jake came to talk to me. I felt a little giddy as he came towards me. He was wearing a cream fitted shirt with hs top two buttons open and revealing his immaculatly smoothly tanned skin. His body was perfect and it fitted greatly in his shirt.

''Lookin well Hartnett'' He said

''Hi Jake'' I laughed

He smiled at me with his cheeky grin. He scanned my body and slyly bit the corner of his lip. He smelled amazing.

He ordered a few rounds of shots for us. We knocked them back and messed around. We sat down and he kept his arm around my shoulders.

''I'd leave right now if you said you'd come home with me'' He whispered into my ear

I giggled, even saying stuff like this gave me butterflys.

More of his friends came and joined us. Shane, off his football team leaned over the table.

''Come to the strippers man'' He said

Jake looked at me as if we were choosing between me and the strippers.
