Sorry, guys. I haven't updated in forever but here's another chapter. Hope you enjoy...

Jason and I walked though the city's streets at a fast pace, hoping to get to the castle gates quickly. With the twilight fading, Jason and I entered and crossed an ornate door on the far side of the gates. The Dangler, Nicholas, had given the three of us several new pairs of clothes so we'd seem more authentic. I hoped our new clothes would make the other nobles of Trensicourt less suspicious of the old but still noble family of Caberton.

I glanced over at Jason who walked with false confidence while I walked as I normally would when I was inconspicuously breaking the rules. Jason's clothes fit him well so they looked pretty good on him. Mine on the other hand, felt too silky even if it was just a cloak. I kind of felt like my title as Salix, was made more official because of the cloak. Now, I couldn't wait for Jason to demote the Chancellor Copernum. If he couldn't take Copernum's title, then I would have to find an alternate way to escape the city without being killed or imprisoned all while trying to get the next syllable for the Word too.

When we got to the base of the castle, a short man in a well-tailored old fashioned suit stood in front of a burly guard with a sheathed sword strapped to his hip. They were waiting for us.

"And who might you two be, good sirs?" the short man inquired politely.

"I am Lord Jason of Caberton." Jason stated his title. He gestured to me next. "And this is my personal bodyguard, Salix."

I nodded my head at the short man politely, staying silent. I was glad the cloak Nicholas gave me had a large hood on it The short man looked Jason and I up and down suspiciously for a moment before he finally seemed reluctantly satisfied with our appearances. The short man escorted us to an elegant common room where many richly dressed patrons were seated around a mahogany table with fancy drinks in front of them.

The short man in the well tailored suit fake coughed loudly, interrupting any and all conversation at and around the table. "Now, introducing Lord Jason of Caberton and his personal bodyguard!"

The men around the mahogany table nodded at us and exchanged a light form of greeting before going back to their business beforehand. The short man led Jason and I over to another man at the table with a plate of half-eaten fish still in front of him. The older man has his hair slicked back and nodded up at the short messenger man. "Tedril." The messenger man said after the older seated man had acknowledged him. He then promptly left to go back to his post outside where he had met Jason and I.

"Lord Jason, pleased to make you and your guard's acquaintance." The man stated as if he had said this greeting every single time he met someone tonight. Jason nodded at the man rather stiffly while I just gave one curt nod of greeting.

The man that I now knew as Tedril, excused himself from the table and led Jason and I out of the dining room and into an empty common room. Tedril turneded around quickly and motioned for the two of us to take a seat. Jason sat at a wooden desk while I remained standing.

"Caberton? I was unaware that anyone currently held the title." Tedril said casually. He didn't sound like he was trying to expose us. It sounded more like he was just simply trying to make conversation.

Jason played with the ring on his finger that Galloran had given him back at his castle. I could sense that Jason was getting a bit twitchy. I better make sure he didn't accidently reveal anything. My gaze flickered back and forth between Tedril and Jason.
