I'm SO, SO, SO sorry. I haven't updated in forever. My mum caught me using the book to help write my story and thought I was plagiarizing (I wasn't, this is obviously a fanfiction) So my mum took the book and hid it somewhere in her room. She gave the book back to me now because she forgot she took it and believed I simply left the book in her room.

Anyway... here's another update. Please don't hate me...

Jason and I stayed in Trensicourt for four days. Jason seemed to be on edge but I was just bored. I had won many times at poker with multiple men earning loads of money but also earned loads on enemies upon winning though I never cheated.

A talyor had visited Jason and I. He gave Jason many new clothes and shoes while kept my combat boots and cloak. We were lead up to the main castle so that Jason's title of Lord of Caberton would finally be recognized. I had kept up my façade as Jason's bodyguard pretty well apparently because no one dared to question my presence and why I always had my hood up to conceal the fact I was still a woman.

I was made to wait inside near the door while Jason was being questioned about his title. Hopefully Jason's story that Bartley had helped the two of us make up was enough for the court to believe. I leaned against the cold stone wall and crossed my arms over my chest as I waited. I noticed Rachel was among the crowd staring at Jason as she got his attention, trying to tell him that it was time for him to challenge the Chancellor. Jason was terrible at reading lips so he glanced at me. I jerked my head at the Chancellor in the corner of the room that was wearing a tricoloured hat.

"Has something else captured your attention?" questioned the regent.

The crowd snickered as Jason looked forward and replied confidently, "I beg you pardon, Your Highness. I have one other request. I would like to challenge Chancellor Copernum for the chancellorship."

The crowd gasped in shock and burst into loud babbling. A soldier threatened the people to either shut up or thy would be forced to leave. The crowd quietened down so the current chancellor and regent could speak.

"Such is your right, as lord of the realm. Wen do you propose to hold such a competition?" The regent asked Jason.

"As soon as possible." Came Jason's reply.

The regent turned to the current chancellor and asked him, "What say you, Chancellor? Have yo any objection to pursuing this challenge in summary fashion?"

The current Chancellor Copernum narrowed his eyes at Jason but replied too the regent calmly, "I have no objection to annexing further holdings, however meager, to my own."

The regent nodded and announced. "Very well. After a twenty minute recess Lord Jason of Caberton shall compete with Chancellor Copernum for the chancellorship." The regent turned to Jason and told him. "You may step down, Lord Jason."

Jason stepped off the platform and watched Chancellor Copenum exit the court room through a door to left in the very corner of the room. Bartley went over to Jason and slapped him on the shoulder, no doubt congratulating him on his nerve.

I waited until Bartley had walked away and Rachel approached Jason. I followed Rachel and stood beside her as she handed Jason an envelope.

Jason took it and examined the envelope. "What is it?" He asked Rachel.

"Just in case." Rachel replied. "According to our friend lots of people are watching you with spyglasses right now, reading your lips, observing your actions, trying to pick up clues."

'Well I guess, it's a good thing I don't take of my hood. They can't exactly read my lips when they can't see my face'

Jason nodded in understanding. "Gotcha. How'd you get in here?"

"Our dangling friend called in some favours." Rachel said. "We've been talking for too long. I have to go."

Jason frowned. "You're not going to watch?"

Rachel shook her head. "No. Trust me. It's better for all three of us." With those words, Rachel disappeared into the crowd of people.

Twenty minutes later, the large crowd had gathered back into the court room and sat back down to watch the competition unfold.

The same regent from waved his hand motioning for Jason to step back onto the platform like before only this time I stood at Jason's side. A man named Dolan stood at Copernum's.

The regent explained the rules and how the contest would go down to Jason. "Are the conditions understood?" The regent looked down at Jason and Copernum.

"Yes, sire." Jason replied while Copernum simply nodded.

The regent looked over at Copernum and Jason. "What education have you received?"

Both Jason and Copernum said they have attended a high school and Copernum had graduated his high school.

"Let the contest begin." The regent announced loudly.

Sorry super short chapter. I'm so, so, so sorry, I haven't updated in so freaking long. I'm going on vacation for the next two weeks for my cousin's wedding in Ireland. I can't bring my laptop but I'll try to update again before I drive out to the airport.

Bye
