Brielle's POV
When I woke up, I immediately smelled breakfast foods. I smiled and sat up, stretched, and stood up. I ran my fingers through my hair, attempting to comb out some of the knots and tangles.
I walked through the door frame and spotted both my grandparents smiling and talking. I squealed and attacked my grandpa in a hug.
"Grandpa! When did you come home?" I asked, pulling away.
Grandpa laughed and kissed my forehead. "I got in early this morning. Now, your grandmother here was telling me something about a boy?" Grandpa raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.
I shot a playful glare at my sheepish looking Nana. "Nana!" I exclaimed. "Why did you do that?"
She still looked sheepish. " We don't have secrets!" She defended. " Plus, he could tell I was excited about our shopping trip."
I rolled my eyes playfully. " Well...." I drawled. " You can make it up to me by letting me have some of those blueberries? "
Nana rolled her eyes and handed me the plastic container. "Happy?"
I smirked. "Very. Did you get a hold of aunt Ruth and aunt Nicola?" I popped a couple of blueberries in my mouth.
She smiled. "Yes! They are on their way and I should warn you, they were more excited than me."
"If I knew you guys wanted to take me shopping this bad, I would have asked a long time ago!" I exclaimed, laughing.
Nana laughed for a second. " Brielle, we all know you hate shopping. That's why we didn't ask you."
"Well, if I knew you wanted to take me, I would have let you guys," I replied, eating more blueberries.
"And that means a lot to us." Nana smiled and went back to cooking.
While Nana was cooking, I turned to my Grandpa, grinning. " So, how have you been?" I asked, trying to make conversation.
"I've been good. But the question is how have you been?" I looked at him and saw genuine concern in his eyes.
I nodded and smiled softly. "I'm fine, Grandpa. Don't you go worrying about me!" I winked and poked him in the shoulder.
"Brielle, how can I not worry? My little cupcake is growing up! To top it off, she already had a boyfriend!"
"Are you really going to start calling me 'cupcake' again?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, you will always be my cupcake." he smiled. "Now, how is school, grades?"
"Good. I have all A's." I grinned triumphantly.
"That's what I like to hear. What's your favorite subject this year?" He asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Biology. Definitely. I like studying the body parts and all that good stuff," I answered, getting up to get some apple juice.
"Oh," he sounded surprised. "You're just like Liam. He always excelled in biology. Probably why he became a medical doctor."
"Yeah, he really loves his job." I chuckled. " So does my other dad."
Grandpa laughed. " That boy loves anything to do with food!"
I laughed too. "Yeah, he does."
"How's Blake doing? I haven't seen him in a while." Grandpa frowned. They have always been pretty close, to be fair.
