Why doesn't Karmen ever listen to me?

All I've ever had is Karmens best interest at heart. I wouldn't forgive myself if I let anything happen to her. I didn't forgive myself for her parents death. We should have known. We should have seen it coming. We should have been able to take them on and still be here.

If we did, Karmen wouldn't be here wanting to seek revenge. I laughed at her when she first made the suggestion; but then when I saw she meant it and she intended on going on a killing spree I had to take her serious. Her parents meant everything to her. They were all very close.

So I trained her and now she's, dare I say it one of the best assassins I've come across and trust me; I've come across many.

Even though she is good I'll never tell her how great she is. That will just add fuel to the already lit fire. I shouldn't really be doing this. If her parents were here they wouldn't let her. Furthermore they are most probably cursing me up in heaven. But if they know their daughter then I'm sure they knew this would have been the outcome.

It was one thing for Karmen to lose her parents but for her to witness it too? That was never meant to happen. Everyone in that house was meant to die. Me and Karmen included. But for some reason Karmens father had sent me away. He then called me and said make sure you take care of Karmen I heard shots right after and did a quick U-turn back to their house. By the time I got there I was too late. Only Karmen was left and ready to shoot had I not made myself known to her.

At the time I had no idea who wanted the Cardenas dead. They were good people. Everyone looked up to them and respected them. Why? Because they were fair. Anything they had they would make sure others had. They brought in a lot of drugs, guns and money into New York and not just for us Espanols but for the Americans too. As I said they were well respected. Due to that anything they wanted they got.

Now, when others are aware this is how you are living they too want to live that way. And we all know you can't have two big fishes in a pond. There's just not enough space.

The Santiago being behind the killing to this day still puzzles me. They were all best friends. And the Cardenas loved the Santiagos but I guess greed and envy will make love seem like their friendship was not enough.

I intended on killing them. They took my brother and sister. There was no way they could have stayed alive. But timing was everything. I wasn't meant to have been there and for some reason Gabriella didn't kill Karmen. So going off the grid was the best decision. Karmen changed her name to Courtney but I'll forever call her Karmen; or CK, stands for her new name and also Contract Killer. I think that's why she chose that name.

Anyway, I guess I have to go easy on Karmen. She is an adult after all. She is smart and if in danger she's trained to be prepared.

My phone rang, it was my eyes and my ears.

"Hello..."

"She went home but she's going back out. You want me to follow?"

"Nah. Don't. Leave her. Take the weekend off. I'll call you." I said.

If Karmen knew I paid someone to follow her twenty four seven she would never trust me. But that was the only way I wouldn't worry.

However, this weekend she would be free to do as she pleases. After all it's her birthday. She'll just stay indoors knowing Karmen. So what's the worst that could happen?
