16. Gabriella

As soon as Karmen walked in I felt as if I had seen a ghost. What made it worse was my son was calling her Courtney! For a second I thought it wasn't Karmen, then when I noticed her smiling at me. I knew she knew who I was. I just didn't understand why she was here or what she wanted.

"Gabby are you not hungry? You haven't touched your food." My husband asked me. I looked up and there she was never taking her eyes off of me.

"Yeah I'm fine, will you excuse me." I said as I got up for some fresh air.

Karmen did not take her eyes off me as I walked past her.

I didn't know what to do. My son seemed like he really liked her. Alejandro never brings home girls. So when he said he wanted to do this dinner I was skeptical.

As I decided to go back inside one of my workers ran in.

"Sorry Mrs Santiago but I have news and it isn't good."

What could possibly be worse than the daughter of my best friend that I murdered sitting at my dinner table?

"What is it?" I asked.

"Another hit. This time a whole line. All the Diegos even the kids."

"WHAT?!"

"There's more. Apparently, the contract killer that everyone has been speculating about is real, and he... is a she."

I laughed. Then it hit me... Karmen.

"Get everyone here. Make sure security is doubled. Do it now."

As I walked back into the dining room I smiled.

"Hey, so I'm afraid we will have to put this dinner to a premature finish."

"Why?" Alejandro asked.

"Because... Alejandro... we have important business to deal with. Another situation has arisen. More bad outcomes." I said as I looked at Karmen.

It was then she winked at me.

"Surely we can finish eating first!" Pedro said to me.

I gave him the death stare.

"No. It. Can't." I said through gritted teeth.

"It's okay. I can see an important family matter has arisen. Maybe we can go out to dinner next time. On me." Karmen said.

I couldn't believe this.

What was she playing at?

"Make sure you call me when you get home." Alejandro said to Karmen.

"I will. Bye Mr & Mrs Santiago. Was nice meeting you. Can't wait to see you again." She said before she left.

"Okay.. what's the big emergency?" Alejandro asked.

"Firstly, we've been hit. The whole Diego line. Out. Gone. Dead. And secondly... this is the last time you see that girl." I said to him.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me Alejandro! She's no good! You stay away from her. I forbid you two being together!"
