*Caseys POV*
After school, Ally and I walk to her house. We were going to go to my house, but Benny was gonna be home and she had to be there with him.
By the time we get there, I've learned a lot about her. Amongst other things, she was a star cheerleader at her other school, and her dad is a lawyer and is supposed to move in with them next month.
Her house is beautiful. I've never been around this area because its for the more wealthy residents of this town. But... wow. The house had four columns supporting it,and a beautiful garden probably started by the previous owner. There's a long, wide driveway, and two U-Haul trucks are parked there.
It looks like the next feature in a Martha Stewart magazine.
"Well, dont just stare at it, come inside," Ally says, laughing at my suprised face. I force my legs to follow her onto the porch.
"Damn, I forgot my key," she says feeling her pockets. "Benny!" she knocks on the door.
In a few moments the door opens, and a scrawny medium-haired boy stands on the other side. He has freckles and a shirt that says Swag. Not to be mean or anything, but he probably had none.
"You forgot your key. What would you have done if I hadnt come home first?" Benny looks at his sister in mock dissapointment
"Ok, I screwed up. Chill bro," he steps aside as she brushes by him. "This is Casey a girl in my homeroom."
"Hi," I say, following her past him, into what I guess was the living room. On the inside, the house looks surprisingly normal. Judging from the outside, I would have expected to see high ceilings and luxurious furniture, but there wasnt much furniture and the room was normal sized. There was a staircase to the right, but it was modest and closed.
"You want something to eat? The movers havent brought the refrigerator yet, but theres crackers and peanut butter," Ally says. I follow her upstairs, and Benny follows me.
"No theres not," he says. "I just finished the crackers. There's always the peanut butter though."
"Ben, seriously? How can you eat so much and still be a little twig? That was supposed to hold us off until Thursday!" I smile to myself at brother and sister arguing. I dont have siblings of my own, but when I think of all the aggravation, I thank God I'm a single child.
We go into what looks to be Allys room. Theres a bed, desk, and boxes in the corner of the room. Other than that, it's a barren wasteland for the time being. Benny throws himself on the bed, making the springs creak.
"Not so rough!" Ally scolds him. Then to me: "Welcome to the start of my room."
"Its a nice space," I say. "Whens the rest coming?"
"Tomorrow. Actually, a lot of stuff is outside in the moving trucks. But our mom had to go straight to work today, and couldn't stay home to unpack."
"This is boring," Benny decided to himself. "I'm going to start my homework."
Ally snorts. "Since when do you do your schoolwork voluntarily?"
"Since theres no TV and I have no friends to hang out with." He gets up and leaves. I hear his loud footsteps go back downstairs.
Ally grins. "Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"No."
"If your mom ever gets pregnant, run away from home." She says it so serious, i cant tell if shes joking. I laugh, sitting timidly on the edge of her bed.
"I can help you decorate if you want," I tell her, eyeing the boxes in the corner.
"Really? Great. I dont feel like doing homework right now anyways." So we spend the next two hours in DIY mode. Posters go up, clothes are put in the closet, we put up curtains and blinds, and put down a rug.
"Wow, we did a great job," I say, impressed as we step out into the hallway to admire our work.
"Yeah. Thanks for helping me."
"Sure. I would love to stay more but... crap! It's 4:30. I gotta go."
"Okay." She walks me to the front door. "I had fun today. Youre the first friend I have here."
"Thanks. Your really nice too."
"Wait! Here." Ally whips out a Sharpie and grabs my arm, pulling the sleeve up. Writing a phone number on my arm, she says, "Call me later, cuz we still have to do that homework."
"Ok," I say. "See you." I pull the sleeve back down, smiling.
"Bye."

*Alyssas POV*
After Casey leaves, I go look for Benny. He's in the kitchen, with his binder and papers spread out on the table.
"Hey, little bro."
"Stop calling me that. I'm 13." I ruffle his strawberry- blond hair because I know he hates it. "Your friend seems nice."
"She is," I say sitting next to him.
"Do you think she knows about... you?"
"I don't know," I say, sighing. "Her boyfriend may have said something about it. You know people will always find out, no matter where we go."
Benny smiles sympathetically. "Well, if you want to have some friends here, maybe you should be honest and just say what happened before they hear about her side."
I nod. "I know." This topic always brought anxiety bubbling to the surface, threatening to spill over. My legs started tapping on the floor and my forehead broke out in a sweat.
"You okay?" my brother asks, and for a moment, I forget how annoying he can be.
"Yeah... you know how I get. I'm gonna go lie down for a bit okay?"
"Okay." I get up from the table and escape to my room, slamming the door behind me. I sink to the floor, feeling the tears welling in ny eyes. What happened, it destroyed my family's life. Media had attacked us, and our parents had to move us when they wouldnt leave the front yard for a week, trying to get us to talk to them.
Luckily, Dad had threatened a lawsuit on the school if they released a photograph of me to the press, but we had to move anyway. She had lied on me, and everyone would believe a teacher over a student.
The memories close in on me, and I sob, curling up into a ball on the floor. Theres a soft tap on my door. "Go away Benny," I whisper, barely audible.
"Sweetie, can I come in?" It's Mom. I look towards the door, sniffling.
"No."
I hear the knob turn anyway, and the door swings open. I see her tan slacks and black flat shoes as she walks over.
"Honey, Benny told me what happened. He said to tell you he was sorry he said anything."
"Mom, it's fine. Just please go away. She kneels down, and I see her warm, brown eyes peer at me, concerned.
"I really hope this place works out for us," my mother says, brushing my hair out of my face. "Your in high school, sweetheart. I want you to enjoy the time you have left as a teenager."
I only sob harder. She hands me a tissue, and I dab at my eyes with it. I decide I dont want her to go after all, and crawl into her arms so she can hold me. "I just want to be normal again."
