Wouldn't Trade You

Chapter 14

That night I decided to have Tanner spend the night. We watched two of the many scary movies he got me from when Caden and I broke up. I knew it wasn't a good idea.
We both grew really tired and decided it was time for bed. I pulled a mattress in my room for Tanner and we joked around as we set it up.
Tanner took off his shirt as I got in bed.
He shut the door and turned off the light as he got on to the mattress.
"Tanner.." I said shutting my eyes tightly.
"Yeah?" He waited for me to respond.
"Would you call me a pussy if I said I was scared?" I questioned causing him to laugh.
"No" he replied back.
"I'm scared" I paused "can you lay with me?... just for a while." I asked.
I heard him shuffle around and I felt his hand touch my arm causing me to jump. I finally opened my eyes to see him.
I scooted over and pulled him down next to me wrapping my arms around his body and burying my head in his chest.
He chuckled to himself "that scared huh?"
I nodded my head into his chest.
"Goodnight." He whispered.
And with that I began to fall into a deep sleep.

I peaked my eyes open to see Tanners bare chest. I looked up and saw he was still asleep. I felt warm and safe in his arms. Our legs were tangled together, our bodies were pressed up against each other's. It felt right. I carefully rolled over to pick up my phone. I had many text from Caden.
'C: I'm sorry'
'C: I'm such a dumbass I never meant to hurt you!!'
'C: please, I need you.'
'C: I think.. I'm in love with you!'
The last text got to me...I opened my phone and sat there for a minute deciding on how I should respond.
I felt an arm snake over me and grab my phone from my hand.
I turned back around to see Tanner awake.
He blocked Caden's number and sat my phone back down.
"Morning." He stretched with a smile.
He looked so cute, his hair was all messed up and his voice was raspy.
"Morning" I smiled "now can I have my phone back?"
"I did that for your own good" he assured me handing me my phone.
"I know" I said looking away. "Again, I'm sorry for last night."
"Don't be. Even with what happened it was a really good night." He smiled.
"Yeah" I blushed.
We ended up going to the skatepark without Bryson this time. We had fun ourselves I attempted a few tricks on his scooter but still couldn't land anything for shit.
After, we got Starbucks it kinda became a "tradition" for us.
When we walked in we got in line and waited for our turn to order.
"Tanner?"
Tanner and I both spun around.
"amanda." He smiled with no excited tone in it.
"Oh my god, what's up?" She giggled. "Is that your girlfriend?..." she questioned pointing at me.
It grew awkward and silent "no.." Tanner replied rubbing the back of his neck.
"Didn't sound like a no to me" she smirked. "Remember when we use to date." She playfully pushed his shoulder while giggling.
That's why he's been acting like that, it's his ex.
"Yeah.." he trailed off "What have you been up to recently." He asked.
"Oh nothing, just cheer captain of the cheer team." She said acting like it was no big deal. Which it wasn't, she just wanted it to seem like it was something amazing causing me to roll me eyes.
"okay well, we're gonna go." I said grabbing Tanners hand and walking away.
"What was that about?" He asked as I pulled him outside.
"You dated her?" I asked while letting go of his hand.
"I know" he rolled his eyes. "It lasted a week."
"I couldn't even stand that one minute conversation." I crossed my arms.
"Yeah, anyway.." he said trying to change to conversation.
On the way back to my house Tanner got a text from Jake asking if Tanner and I wanted to go to the movies with him and Daniella.
I agreed without even fully thinking.
Tanner decided to go home instead of going over to my place.
"I'll pick you up at 6:30." He waved goodbye walking to his house.
"Alright, see you then." I smiled.
On the way home I couldn't help but look back a few times, I caught Tanner staring back every now and then until he was out of sight.
I went home and got on my phone hoping time would pass quickly.
After a few hours I got up and applied my makeup, not too heavy though. I've never really been a fan of heavy makeup.
I curled my hair, which was new I rarely curl my hair. Then, I went to go look for an outfit to wear.
I wore a tight fitting long sleeve light grey crop with ripped shorts and a puffy pink jacket to go over it.
I sat on my bed and waited a couple more minutes until I got the text from Tanner saying he was here. I got up and sprayed my perfume on before walking out. I went outside to see Tanner leaning up against the front of his GTR with a smile on his face.
"Hey" he smiled as I approached him.
"Hi" I said getting closer with open arms.
We both hugged then he opened my door to let me in.
"Such a gent." I joked.
He chuckled and shut the door getting in on his side.
We arrived at the movies and met up with Daniella and Jake before getting in line for tickets.
I was watching the people in front of us before something beside me caught my eye.
I looked over to see Caden and the girl he cheated on me with hand in hand walking up to get in line.
I wasn't even thinking, I needed to get Tanners attention so I grabbed his hand.
I didn't realize it made us look like we were dating until Caden spotted us. I felt like everything was moving so slowly. I looked over at Tanner to see him grinning at me.
I looked down at our hands and back at him to smiled back. I liked the feeling.
When we got our ticket and we went in I felt as if Tanner was staring at me most of the movie. It's like he admired me, or as if I was the most important person he had ever met. I don't know...
