Chapter 5

I had Tanner send me the address but I haven't told him about my boyfriend coming yet. I thought about just showing up and winging it, hopefully nothing bad happens. On the way to Tanners I picked up my boyfriend. We arrived and my nerves started to build up. We approached the door and rang it, I heard footsteps then the door started to slowly open.
Surprisingly Jake opened the door "MI-uh..." he started but couldn't finish seeing Caden.
"I decided to bring my boyfriend, Caden along." I smiled.
"Oh. Well I'm Jake" Jake said sticking out his hand while Caden shook it.
"Caden" he smiled.
Well this is going a lot better than I was hoping.
"Come on in, Daniella and Tanner are in the back" he said as me and Caden proceeded in and straight for the back.
"Hey Mia" Daniella smiled and it started to slowly fade as Caden walked out behind me.
Daniella doesn't really like Caden, I don't know why, he's such a sweet guy.
"Hey guys, uh Caden wanted to come along so.." I smiled and sat down.
Caden pulled up a chair next to me and it got silent, as if everyone was scared to talk.
"I'm going to go get some lemonade." I said standing up "you want any Caden?" I asked looking at him.
"No thanks" he smiled.
"I'll help, there's a certain nozzle you have to pull" he said getting up causing Caden to tighten his fists.
I walked inside and Tanner followed me in.
"I know how to work this" I said pouring lemonade into a plastic cup.
"I know, what's going on?" He asked.
"What? Nothing. What are you talking about?" I asked. But I knew exactly what he was talking about.
"I know you did not invite him, you knew it was going to be awkward and possibly cause problems. So why is he here?" He asked leaning against the counter.
"He wanted to come after you opened your mouth last night about our plans, and he wasn't taking no for an answer so what was I suppose to do?" I questioned.
He started to crack up "that's funny"
"Shut up" I nudged him
"I have someone you want to meet" he smiled.
"Whom may this be?" I asked
"KIRBY" he yelled letting out a whistle
Out came a Golden lab.
"Oh my god, a dog" I said bending down to pet him as he licked my face and jumped up on me.
"Down Kirby" Tanner said trying to get him off of me.
But Kirby pushed me over onto my back and started to lick my face "it's fine" I laughed.
"He likes you" he smiled.
I petted him some more and got up brushing myself off "we better go back out there before Caden throws a fit."
I grabbed my cup and walked outside with my lemonade. I quietly sat down in my seat watching Tanner walk over to his seat.
"Tanner, do you have parents?" Daniella asked.
Tanner and Jake started to chuckle.
"Where do you think I came from?" He asked Laughing.
"Don't be a smart ass you know what I meant" she laughed making me chuckle to myself a little.
"To answer you question yes, my mom is at work and my dad lives in Ohio. They got a divorce when I was three." He said setting his cup down.
"Do you visit your father?" Asked Daniella.
"Yeah every now and then, but when I do visit him I stay for a long period of time." He said not making eye contact with anyone. It's like he was zoned off.
The rest of the night was just casual conversation, which was different and weird thanks to Caden.
"Well Caden has somewhere to be tonight and I'm going home to take care of my brother" I said standing up.
I wanted to leave. But I wasn't lying surprisingly. Caden was going to hang out with some friends and I have nothing else to do so I guess I'll have to go home.
"Mia, wait.. will you help me with something in the kitchen?" Daniella asked.
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"Just come here" she said moving her eyes from me to inside.
I slowly walked into the house and she followed me in "what do you need help with?"
"me, you, Tanner, and Jake, swimming here tonight" she smiled.
"Uh bad idea, Caden won't like that at all" I said shaking my head no.
"Come on, Tanner is going to be lonely." She frowned.
"Well it's not a double date so either way it doesn't matter" I said.
"fine, can I spend the night tonight?" She asked.
"Yeah of course" I nodded my head.
"k I'll come after I go swimming with Jake" she said walking back out as I followed her.
I grabbed Caden and we left.
"Your friends are quiet" he commented while getting in the car.
"Not usually, that was kinda weird" I said backing out.
"It was because of me, wasn't it?" He asked.
"Well they're not exactly buddy buddy with you" I said as we rode the rest of the way in silence.
I dropped him off and went home then laid on my bed and shut my eyes for a couple hours. I woke up two hours later with a snapchat from Caden. I opened the app and pressed on Caden's snap. My eyes widen and I sat up, it was some girl I have never seen in my life wearing some very revealing clothes. I grew with anger, I was about to say something back but I didn't want to embarrass myself. I couldn't think of what to do.
I finally decided to call Daniella.
"Hello?"
"Daniella, I'm coming to Tanners to swim."
I heard her celebrate over the phone then we said our goodbyes. I went to my closet and grabbed my Polo brand bikini then put it on slipping my clothes back over. I grabbed a towel and drove over to Tanners.
When I got there I rang the door bell and Tanner answered.
"Mia? What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Daniella didn't tell you that I was coming?" I asked.
"No? I thought you weren't coming" he said in confusion.
"Long story" I rolled my eyes.
"Well come in, we're out back" he smiled.
I walked in and we both walked out back together.
"Oh yeah Mia is coming" Daniella said.
"Thanks for the heads up" Tanner laughed.
"Well.." Jake paused then took off his shirt running towards the pool and jumping in.
We all sat there for a moment to laugh then Daniella took off her clothes running and jumping on Jake.
Me and Tanner both laughed "they should just date already" I commented.
Tanner agreed then we both got undressed and jumped in.
Tanner started doing flips into the pool.
"That's so cool, how?" I asked.
He laughed "Its easy I'll show you." He said getting out of the pool and holding his hand out for me.
I grab it but he let go of me making me falls back in.
"No no I'm kidding" he starts laughing and holding his hand out again.
I give him a dirty look then grab his hand as he finally helps me out.
"If you're trying to do a tuck just jump up and tuck your knees in and kinda just go back" he said then demonstrated.
"What the fuck..." I said as he popped up out of the water "I don't know Tanner I'm scared"
"COME ON MIA YOU CAN DO IT"
I looked over to see Daniella all over Jake cheering me on. I smiled and then looked at Tanner.
"You totally got this" he said cheering me on.
I faced away from the pool and went for it..well I ended up slipping and falling into the pool. I resurfaced in embarrassment as they all laughed at me.
"Hey it's okay, that was close" he paused trying not to laugh but failed "okay that wasn't close at all but it was really funny"
"Shut up" I splashed him.
He laughed but it started to die down.
It got peaceful, Jake and Daniella had their own conversation while Tanner and I had ours.
He sat up in the side of the pool.
"So what's up?" He asked.
"Uh im kinda like in your pool right now" I laughed.
"No I mean why are you here? Not to be rude. But I wasn't expecting you to come because of your boyfriend." He said tracing his finger on the side of the pool.
"I wasn't going to. But I'm kinda mad at him." I nervously laughed.
"Why?.. if you don't mind me asking" he waited.
"Uh he lied to me about who he was hanging out with.. he's with another girl right now" I said looking away.
"Damn.. that's harsh. Im sorry" he frowned.
"Don't worry about it, I'm okay. I came here to forget about it. I'll deal with it later" I shrugged.
"Well. Let's do something" Tanner said getting up.
"Truth or dare?" Jake suggested.
Tanner looked at me waiting for me to agree "sure" I shrugged.
Tanner started a fire as I grabbed my towel and sat on one of his lawn chairs.
"Who ever gets picked can go next, and no double picks" Daniella said enforcing the rules.
We all sat down and Tanner decided to go first.
"Daniella, truth or dare?" He asked.
"Truth" she said wrapping up in her towel.
I booed her for the choice of truth as she flipped me off. We both started laughing and waited for Tanner to ask his question.
"Do you like Jake more than a friend?" He asked.
"No shit" she said playfully rolling her eyes.
"That's obvious" I laughed
"It's just getting started, chill out ladies" he laughed.
Jake started to blush.
"Mia, truth or dare?" She asked.
"Dare"I smirked.
"I dare you to.." she paused while looking around "knock on the neighbors window and run"
"Is this truth or dare or get Mia arrested?" I asked.
"You were dared" Tanner smirked.
I rolled my eyes and got up opening Tanners back gate then going up to his neighbors yard and pounding on there window as hard as I could. I ran and slammed the gate shut. nothing happened, I don't even think they knew it was us so we went on with our game.
"Jake, truth or dare?"I asked.
"Dare." He said.
"I dare you to kiss Daniella" I smirked as they both started to blush.
Jake started to lean over and grab Daniella by the face gently placing a kiss on her lips, he held it for a couple of seconds then pulled away.
"Awwww" I said happy for Daniella
"Way to ruin a moment" she laughed.
"Oh sorry" I stood up.
"We'll leave you two alone." I smiled
"What?" Tanner sat in confusion.
"Come on stupid" I said grabbing his hand and pulling him inside.
Me and Tanner talked inside and waited for their cute little moment to be over. After another hour or so me and Daniella decided to head back to my place. The whole way there Daniella was talking about how perfect it was and I couldn't help but wish that's how me and Caden were.
