A/N: Hello people who read these. SashaL wrote a little thing, which takes place at the same time as the chapter "Medicine Man" or whatever I named it, in Accidental Avatar 2- RocknRoll. So if you're not that far, maybe don't read this, because, Spoilers. Or something. Anyway, this is from Zuko's POV by the illustrious SashaL, so enjoy. Also, if you haven't read the above-mentioned chapter, why on Earth are you still reading this??? Vote, comment, share and whatever. Amaya out~
I was dreaming. I knew I was, because First, I was seeing myself in third-person. Second, I was kneeling on my father's throne-mat, Third, I was in the Firelord's outfit complete with a crown... and fourth, maybe the most impressive thing about the dream, I had no scar on my face.
The way I see it, we can be anything in our dreams. I know I want to return to the Fire nation with honor. It's the rest of it that I don't have figured out. I could see myself in the royal robes, the soldiers all pledging allegiance to me as their new ruler.
Amaya was among them... passively, leaning against a pillar in the palace. Giving no more of a hoot than if I had just said I'd made her tea. Ungrateful snob.
A dragon spoke to me from a pillar beside me.
"It's getting late" the blue one commented. "Are you planning to retire soon, my Lord?" Its voice sounded familiar.
"I'm not tired," I heard myself say calmly.
"Relax, Fire Lord Zuko," the dragon whispered intently. I could hear the venom in its voice, but I couldn't warn myself to flee. "Just let go, give into it. Shut your eyes for awhile."
"No, Fire Lord Zuko!" I could hear Uncle Iroh's voice as the Red Dragon spoke. "Do not listen to the Blue Dragon. You should get out of here right now. Go! Before it's too late!"
Both dragons were poised to either side of me.
"Sleep now, Fire Lord Zuko." Growled the blue dragon.
I finally placed its voice... Azula!
Both dragons disappeared. The throne room was swallowed by inky blackness, and the four pillars crumble and fall into the void. Amaya fell too. Her screaming echoing through my head. I wanted to reach out to her! I wanted to dive into the darkness after her!
The soldiers all disintegrated and fell apart, but I didn't care about my kingdom. Amaya was in trouble.
"I made mother sleep," the blue dragon appeared right in front of me. "I will make you sleep, then I will make the girl sleep too!" She was screaming by the end of her tirade. Then she lunged.
I was swallowed. Down the inky blackness of the throat! I could feel a damp pressure all around me. Then Mum appeared. The same way I had seen her last. A robe covered her features, but she pulled the hood back and looked at me.
"Zuko," she gasped. "Help me!"
I could see my distraught face reflected in her eyes. I was terrified. Then I kept falling. Through the ground. I couldn't help Mother, but Amaya was there. If only I could reach her!
I tried calling, but my voice was ice. I tried reaching to her, but my hands wouldn't respond. Then she started singing softly to herself.
"When the cloud in the sky,
Starts to pour in your life,
It's just a storm you're braving.
Well, don't tell yourself,
You can't lean on someone else,
Cause we all need saving...
Sometimes."
I needed her help. I was falling! I couldn't save myself... my consciousness was falling. But I could see my body still sitting there on the Firelord's throne. All was going to be lost...
