SashaL wrote this one, I think he based it on a song, but I'm not too sure which one. Good fun, Good fun. Keep reading if you like our stuff. Let us know if there's a particular idea you'd like to see either in the main story or here, then let us know. It won't affect how often the main story is posted, but it will affect how often I'll be able to post things on here.

“I cant take this any more!” I yelled at the others. “I’m going for a walk! And there’s nothing you can do to stop me!”

I spun on my heel and stormed away from the others. These siblings were annoying the heck out of me with their constant bickering. Sure, there were breaks where they would get along, but most of the time, Sokka was being accused of being a meat headed idiot, while Katara was being a prissy pompous prat.

I walked for ages before stumbling onto a large, green field. It was a beautiful sight. The mountains in the background, the trees lining the field, the swaying grass, a few red flowers kept time to the light breeze… Too bad, the field was littered with rough mounds of rock and dirt. Small headstones marked each grave and I stood next to one of them.

“How do you do, young Mushu Lee…?” I said to the grave. “Mind if I sit down here by your graveside?”
I slumped down onto the ground.
“I’ll just rest for a while in the warm summer sun, then I’ll go back to the guys.”

“I see by your gravestone you were only nineteen, when you joined the great fallen in…” I squinted at the worn writing on the headstone. “What date is that? 67AG?”
I lay on my back. “Well I hope you died quick and clean, not writhing in agony like most, I guess.”

“Did they beat the drums slowly? Did they play the fife lowly? Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?” I listed all the soldiers funeral rites I could remember.”

“Did the band play the last post and chorus? Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?”

“And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind?” I asked. “I mean, I’m pretty sure if I were to die today, the only one who would really miss me would be Amaya… Maybe Katara… She has been trying to be quite friendly with me lately…” I chuckled at that. Katara… having a crush on a Fire Nation scumbag like me… What a laugh...
“In some loyal heart is your memory enshrined?” I asked. “And though you died back in 67AG To that loyal heart you're forever nineteen… Must be nice to be immortal to someone...”

“Or are you a stranger without even a name?” The headstone remained silent. “Forever enshrined in some old portrait, torn, tattered, and stained, and faded to yellow in a brown leather frame?”
The sun was shining low on my green field of the Earth Kingdom. The warm wind blew gently as the red poppies danced. The battlefields had vanished long under the plow… No fire, no bodies, no blood soaking now… But here in this graveyard that's still no mans land, the countless small mounds, in mute witness stand, to man's blind indifference to his fellow man, when whole generations were butchered and damned.

“And I can't help but wonder,” I whispered to the dead. “Young Mushu Lee, do all those who lie here know why they died? Did you really believe them when they told you the cause? Did you really believe that this war would end wars?”
I looked around. These weren’t just Earth Kingdom graves. There were graves from all three nations. Fire, Earth, Water… We are all the same in death… The suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame, the killing and dying, it was all done in vain… I know that no matter what history says, it will all happened again, and again, and again, as long as there are humans on the earth that have even the slightest difference…

“Did they beat the drums slowly?” I whispered as I got up to make the trek back to the campsite. “Did they play the fife lowly? Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down? Did the band play the last post and chorus? Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?”
