A/N: So this was the direction we originally were going with the story in but due to circumstances - which you would know if you were up to date on the main plot - this now no longer fits. But! This is the place for bloopers and director cuts right? It was also when Amaya had a different skillset from her current... uh... self? Whatever, it's an alternate timeline. ENJOY~!

"I can't believe you!"

Amaya rolled her eyes before turning to face the irate waterbender, sighing heavily.

"I don't see how that warrants you yelling at me. What did I do now, mom?" she snarked.

"How can you defend Zuko after everything he's done to us? To you!" she yelled, stepping right up to Amaya, so she was in the smaller but older waterbender's face.

"He's still a friend," she responds. "Part of my ohana."

Her voice was deadly calm as she folded her arms over her chest. "I thought Gui taught you what it meant to have an ohana. What it meant to be part of an ohana."

"Family doesn't try to have each other killed!"

"He's not like that."

"Then please explain why Aang almost died. Why you got hurt!?"

"He made a mistake!" Amaya raised her voice for the first time that entire argument, her hands clenching the sleeves of her shirt.

"Mistakes don't have these types of consequences! He's dangerous and I don't trust him as far as I can throw him!"

"A mistake can have any kind of consequence!"

"He hired an assassin, Amaya!"

"Well, you've said your piece," Amaya's expression turned blank - save for the slight downturn of her lips. "Are we done here?"

Katara threw her hands up, stepping back from the blonde. "You're letting the way you feel about him blind you to his true nature!"

"Pot, kettle," Amaya yawned, stretching and acting nonchalant. "Don't you think your feelings are the ones getting in the way of seeing the real Zuko?"

"I'm being realistic! Zuko can't be trusted!" Katara waved her arms angrily. "He isn't one of us!"

Silence. The air around Amaya seemed to cool dramatically, her shoulders tensing. Katara could no longer see her face, the girl's back turned to her. "Good, because I'm not sure I want to be one of you either."

Her head turned slightly, expression hidden behind a veil of hair. "I don't know what Aang sees in you."

She stepped away, chin held up and shoulders rigid. Katara screamed in fury and threw some water at the older girl. The water knocked Amaya to her knees, soaking her clothes completely. Amaya stayed there for what seemed like hours, Katara breathing heavily.

"Are you done?" came the cold question, as Amaya slowly stood up.

"Zuko will betray us."

"This isn't about him," Amaya turned to face Katara, her hair still hiding her eyes. "This is about you not getting your way. This is about you realizing you were wrong. This is you being childish."

"I'm not being childish!" Katara screamed, water whipping Amaya across the cheek.

Amaya's hair fell over her face, completely obscuring her face. Something in the air seemed to snap, and Katara tensed when she saw her breath condensing before her face.

"I've tried to be patient," Amaya's voice betrayed the fury that bubbled just under the surface.

Katara's eyes widened as she noticed ice creeping up the walls.

"I tried to remind myself that you're young, impulsive and bound to be stupid," Amaya's hair fell away, revealing a red welt on one cheek and a silver scar on the other. "But this is beyond stupid."

The water that Katara commanded, suddenly shot towards Amaya and wrapped itself loosely around her hands. Katara stumbled back and gasped as her limbs locked up. She stared at Amaya and saw only fury.

"H-how are you doing this?" Katara gasped out, as she realised that Amaya was bloodbending her.

But Amaya didn't answer, and Katara couldn't see anything of that person in the person before her. This was a side of Amaya she had only seen once before, and now vowed to never see again.

"What have I done?" she whimpered as Amaya bloodbent her off the ground.

Amaya launched the girl through the door then and sent Katara crashing into the natural fountain. Everyone paused, completely confused and frightened. Most scuttled out of the furious blonde's path as she stepped over the door.

"Are we done here?" she demanded cooly.

Katara nodded vigorously and winced as her ribs protested. Amaya turned away and stalked deeper into the temple.
