Chapter *1*
My White Canvas
Charlotte sketched feverishly at her drawing pad as she waited for her best friend Dorian.
She had always loved being able to turn any plain piece of white paper into something unique. She had gotten her artistic ability from her mom.
Just as she put the final touches on her drawing, Dorian came out of the principle's office.
"Cara, I'm in big trouble." He said quietly.
Cara was Charlotte's nickname. She stood up. "It can't be that bad," she offered weakly.
Instead of replying, he held out a slip of paper.
It read "School Suspension intact for the rest of the year. Starts immediately."
"No, they can't be serious," Cara said in disbelief.
"They are serious, it's terrible, I know. But I deserve it," Dorian said.
"Why because you missed a few days of school?" Cara asked.
"Precisely." Dorian said calmly. He started walking down the hall and Cara struggled to keep up with his long strides.
"But that's not fair!" She said.
"Sed Lex, Dura Lex." Dorian replied.
"Oh please. The law is hard but it is the law? This is not breaking the law," Cara said beginning to get annoyed. She was too annoyed to realize that they were now at the door.
"Illegal absences are just that. Illegal. I'll be fine, besides now I'll have more time I focus on demon hunting."
Tears started to blur Cara's vision. She had never really made any friends except for Dorian, and now he wasn't going to be in school. She hadn't liked school to begin with! But now? She could no longer stand it.
So she told Dorian that she was going to ditch the rest of the day.
"Well Clary be okay with it" He asked.y
Cara shrugged as if to say I don't know, when really she did know. Her mom would definitely not be okay with it.
They walked in an awkward silence for a bit before Dorian spoke up.
"I knew I wouldn't be able to do it," Dorian said in a hushed voice.
Cara was confused, "Do what?"
"Live a normal life. My parents, they lived the beginning of there lives normal, but I never had that chance. I was born like this," he said.
"Dorian-" Cara started.
"Nope, save it. I know this talk, I've had it before. I'm a werewolf, May used to be one, and both of my parents are. They always had hoped I was like May, that I grew out of it by the time I was five, but it didn't happen. And I had always hoped that one day it would stop. May chooses not to go to school when I'd give anything to go to school." Dorian said painfully.
Cara suddenly felt uncomfortable. So again, the awkward silence.
They walked a bit longer before finally, something caught Cara's eye.
"How long has that been there?" Cara asked, pointing to a blue building with a long line and a sign that read 'Pandemonium'.
"Um, I don't know, a while?" Dorian offered.
"Lets see what it is!" Cara said excitedly.
Dorian wasn't so sure about this idea. Last time that she felt adventurous, - or in his mind and what everyone else seemed to call it, 'trouble mode'- she decided to look in the principle's office. She had always been to brave for her own good.
But for some reason that Dorian couldn't say, he followed her into the line for Pandemonium.

Clary had always been able to control those small kids that nobody else could. But putting her in charge of a bunch of rowdy teenagers, and trouble starts.
She had no patience for teenagers who couldn't behave themselves. Kids were still learning how to behave, but by the age of at least 10 you should be able to behave.
So as you can probably imagine, standing in front of two mischievous shadowhunters, she was fuming.
She looked each of them in the eye.
"So tell me your account on this story again," she commanded them.
"Well, Owen and I were walking by and we saw a demon so we were going to get weapons. Actually we saved a lot of people." One said.
Jocelyn was interrupted by two little girls that she watched on the weekdays after school, so she told them to go back to the Institute and have it settled there.

At lot was different now. As you can imagine. So let me just tell you about these four boys.
First off, Steven. He was, after all, no doubt the leader of the group. After Jace went with Sebastian and Isabel, Steven was raised, along with the other three boys, by Tessa and Jem.
Steven was a strong and handsome young shadowhunter. Girls instantly fell for him. But he had always seen them, wanted to know them. Then once he knew them, he no longer liked them.
Gabriel had become Steven's Parabati. And he still didn't know who his parents were. He had never really, really, let anyone in except for Steven, Owen, Sebastian, Tessa, and Jem.
Sebastian and Owen both shared a longing for one thing. In fact, that one thing had brought them too be Parabati.
They didn't know who their parents were. And they were on a mission to find out.
