Landyn sat on the side of Asia, watching intently as she snorted the fine line of cocaine from the table. She sat back, relaxing into the couch as a relieved sigh left her mouth. Recently, Asia had gotten Landyn to try a bit of cocaine and he could admit at first he didn't like it. It made his nostrils burn and wasn't the best feeling when sniffing it, but once the drugs started to kick in he loved how his body reacted. He felt a calm feeling, but the high that pills gave him at the same time. When he saw Asia and Aja getting high, he was disgusted. They were wild and he didn't like that. But when he finally got high off of cocaine himself, he understood why they did it. The feeling was amazing, beyond him.
He leaned forward inhaling his dosage of the coke as Asia spoke. "Baby, why haven't you ever introduced me to your family or friends?" She questioned, eyes still snapped shut. Her question sent Landyn into a roar of laughter.
"You really had to ask?" He pointed to the glass table literally covered in drugs. There were all the pills they could think of, lines of cocaine spread everywhere, and small amounts of codeine and weed. Landyn looked at the codeine and weed before picking it up. To him, they were nothing. It's what he turned to when he wanted to "sober" up without being completely sober, he wasn't addicted to them though. They really did nothing for him. He stood from the couch, heading to the bathroom. "That shit is why. How you think my family and friends gone react knowing that I'm cooped up with some addict, doing the shit with her? I had plans for you to meet them back then, but then pills happened, and now all of this shit." He disappeared into the back, but Asia was swift following behind him.
"So, you're embarrassed of me?" She stood in the threshold of the bathroom, watching as he placed the codeine and weed into the medicine cabinet. Landyn had decided he would save those for another time when he didn't want a strong high.
"I'm embarrassed of a lot of shit," he shrugged, leaning against the sink. "plus they still think I'm talking to Ashleigh. They don't even know I put my hands on that girl."
"Ashleigh? Ashleigh who, Landyn?" Asia spoke quietly, hoping it wasn't the Ashleigh she thought it to be. The world was too small if it was. She could never picture Landyn being with her or the other way around. Ashleigh was too good for him and Landyn hated anything video related.
"Ashleigh, none of your business, Asia." He said mocking her tone. By now he was full on annoyed. He wanted to be back at the table, downing his drugs. Asia was now killing the high that he hadn't even fully got to build up. He walked up to her, wanting to move pass. "Move Asia." He spoke calmly.
"No! We need to talk about this, why you here if you embarrassed!?" Asia voice was loud enough for the neighbors to hear.
"Shut yo ass up, you want your daughter to wake up and see you like this?" He raised a brow, peering down at her. His comment had gotten Asia to quiet down. In the midst of things she had forgotten all about her sleeping angel in the next room over. She rarely did cocaine when her daughter was around, but when she went down for her nap Landyn had convinced her into it. Landyn's dark chuckle bought Asia out of her thoughts as she looked away from him. "That's what I thought. Now move." His tone came out a little more demanding.
"No. We still need to talk." Asia's voice was lower, but just as demanding as his. Landyn shook his head, letting out another dark chuckle. He pushed Asia out of the threshold hard, using one hand. Her body went flying the short distance from the bathroom to the door across from it from the force that Landyn used. As she fell, her head hit the door knob, knocking her out of her previous drowsy like state.
"Next time move, bitch." Landyn stepped over her body not seeming to care that she had just hit her head. He quickly returned to his rightful spot on the couch, reclaiming his position bent over the table to inhale more of the white substance.
Asia recovered from her fall and quickly decided that this was the last time she would go through it with Landyn. This wasn't the first time that he had put his hands on her in his drug induced state and she knew it wouldn't be the last. Usually, they would duke it out amongst themselves, but today he had picked and pulled at the the last straw. She wasn't going to fight fire with fire anymore, but instead let his flame meet her inferno. She had been hurt one too many times both physically and emotionally by him. She was tired, she couldn't even say that she was in love with Landyn, she wasn't, but they had a connection that she loved. But as always, sometimes love just isn't enough.
Asia went into her daughters room, gathering her clothes and favorite toys into a medium sized Hello Kitty suitcase. After packing everything she could fit, she looked at her daughter who was resting peacefully. She loved her daughter so much and was starting to regret everything that she had done behind closed doors that her daughter would never know about if things went her way. Her daughter was the product of a one night stand, yes, but she was the most beautiful mistake of her life. Her father was a rich man, but that's all she knew. The man she had slept with wasn't there when she woke up and she was too out of her mind drunk to even remember his face. She was ashamed, but dealt with her mistake like an adult.
Asia kissed her daughters face all over the place. She placed more kisses on her face, feeling the tears well up in her eyes. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry." She whispered swiping loose curls from around her daughters face. "I'm so so so sorry for what I'm about to do. Mommy loves you." She sighed, placing one last kiss onto her small lips and letting the tears fall free.
Asia waited for her outbreak to subside, then picked her daughter up after putting socks and shoes on her. She carried her in one arm while carrying the bag full of her things in the other. She left from her daughters room and passed Landyn on the couch. He was laid back on the couch, one hand in his pants and his eyes zoned out. He was high. "Where you going?" He asked sleepily.
"To take her to my moms. I'll be back." She walked out the door not waiting for his reply and sped to her car as fast as she could balancing both her daughter and her bag.
Arriving at her mothers, she made a beeline for the door. She sat the suitcase on the stoop and dug her copy of the key out. She entered the home and was hit the smell of cinnamon and apples indicating that her mother was making her homemade apple pie. It made her smile through her pain, she almost started to change her mind. The thought quickly left her mind, she felt this had to be done. "Mommy!" She called through the house. Her mother came out, wiping her hands on a towel.
"Hey honey! What are you doing here and why do you look so..?" Her mother stopped, she couldn't put a word on the distress it looked like her baby was going through.
"It's nothing mommy, promise. Can you watch Mani for me, please?"
"Don't I always? Go lay my grand baby down." She went back into the kitchen to finish her pie and Asia went to her daughters room in her mothers house to lay her down.
She sat the suitcase in the corner, removed her shoes, and tucked her in tight. Asia kissed her daughter on the forehead again before whispering in her ear, "Mommy loves you so much. I'm sorry." She stood before her tears could start up again and found her mother over the stove. She wrapped her arms tight around her mother from behind and pecked her cheek. "I love you mommy." She spoke a little above a whisper. "Thank you for everything." She laid her head on her shoulder, then released her and stood back.
"What's gotten into to you, Asia? Are you okay?" Asia chuckled nervously and looked at her mom with a fake smile.
"Mommy, I promise I'm fine. Stop worrying about me." She shook her head. "I'm going to go to the bathroom and then head out." Her mom nodded. She didn't really believe Asia, but she went along with it. Asia was a stubborn type and would only tell you when she felt like it, not when you tried prying it out of her.
After leaving her mothers house she sat in her car for a while outside of her own place. She took the pills she had taken from her mothers medicine cabinet and crunched them up finely, so they looked similar to cocaine. She mixed the crushed pills into a baggie of coke she had and shook them all together, making a lethal combination. Sighing heavily, Asia made her way back into the house. Landyn was still on the couch, he had fallen asleep but she slammed the door hard to wake him up. He jumped out of his sleep and held his hand over his chest seeing it was just Asia. "You bring me something back?" Landyn asked referring to whatever drugs he thought she went to go get. She knew he would ask this. She held up the baggie in her hand, shaking it with a smile on her face. She wasn't happy to be back here with him, but happy that her plan was in motion. She sat beside him and poured the drugs out on the table. She herself could tell that it was tampered not because she did it, but because she knew the difference. Landyn, on the other hand, was new to this and couldn't tell.
Asia let Landyn work the drugs into lines and start off. He snorted a full two lines before looking to Asia expectantly. She smiled, going to get a beer before coming back. Looking at the table, she could see that Landyn had started on more lines.
By now he had snorted five lines in a ten minute time frame and the lethal combination should be taking a turn for the worst. Asia's assumptions were soon proven when a spaced out Landyn randomly started to choke. She didn't try to help him or even look in his direction, she would be too hurt to know that she was killing this man. In a way though, she felt that he deserved it.
When she heard Landyn's final breath she glanced in his direction. She wanted to cry for the fact that she managed to kill a person, but she had no remorse. She picked up her phone, calling the cops. They answered within the third ring. "I'd like to report two dead bodies." She gave her address and hung up before the person on the other end had a chance to reply. She scribbled out a quick note to her mother, daughter, and sister before taking the baggie to her mouth and swallowing the mixture for a quicker reaction. She kissed Landyn's cold, foamed over lips and whispered a silent and fake sorry before feeling her heart speed up.
Hours had passed as the police investigated the seen. They had tried bringing both dead bodies back to life, but noting helped. They were gone, overdosed on a lethal combination of drugs. Both families were called, all in a hysterical state. Asia's mother was the worst. If only she had pressured her daughter more, she wouldn't be sitting here identifying her daughters dead body.
Landyn's mother and father were torn. They turned to Ashleigh's family for support. Even though Landyn didn't know, his family had told the Dawson's about his addiction. Ashleigh found out later after the situation through her mothers slip up. Landyn thought no one knew, but they did.
Midnight came around and everyone was starting to wind down. They were hurt still, but cries were silent. Mrs. Dawson slipped away from consoling her now sleep friend to call the only person left out of this tragic finding. She knew her daughter wasn't on the greatest terms with Landyn, but she also knew that she wouldn't begrudge him in these circumstances.
The phone rang several times before Ashleigh finally picked up. She was asleep so her voice was horse. "Mom, you know what time it is?" She asked confused, half asleep.
"Yes, it's about Landyn baby..." Ashleigh's groan was loud and annoyed, her mother shook her head even though no one could see.
"Mommy, you know how I feel about him..."
"I know, baby... but something tragic's came up..." She sighed, not really knowing how to get this out to her. She figured the only way was the blunt way. "Baby, he started again... Then some... He," She sighed long... "He's gone, baby." Ashleigh could feel the breath leave her lungs as her mother spoke. She had to be hearing wrong.
"What do you mean gone? Ran away? Back in rehab? Or..?"
"Gone, gone."
