Day 3. No food. No water. And what seemed like no hope.
The day's dragged on, nothing to do, nothing to see, everyone seemed too hopeless to talk to.
I rested my cheek on Louie's shoulder, hiding from the sun.
"Do you think that a good idea?" I asked as he used a flat piece of medal to shine the light at some seagull.
"I'm not going to set around and watch you die." He looked down at me before the seagull landed near Louie.
He thought about it for a second before grabbing it's leg, it struggled before Mac broke its neck.
I sat up, covering my face and squeezing my eyes shut.
I heard Mac and Louie groan as they cut it open, "I don't think I can do it." Phil said with a disgusted look, I'm sure.
"We gotta try." Of course Louie pushed us to do it, and did it work? No.
We all ended up throwing up the raw organs of a seagull.
"We had to try." Louie said as I scoffed.
"You know what? Maybe the fish won't be so picky." I spoke up as I looked over the raft, looking at the many fish beneath us.

I was falling asleep as I held the string with a chunk of seagull on a hook in the water.
I woke up to my hand being pulled into the water, "Louie." I spoke in a worried tone because I've never fished like this.
"Yeah?" He said coming over towards me.
"I got one." I said wrapping the string around my uninjured hand.
Louie laughed loudly as I pulled some type of fish out of the water.
"That's my Sunshine!" Louie said as I smiled, I got the fairly sized fish on the raft before killing it, well, Louie killed it with one punch and his big family ring.
"Buon appetito." Louie smiled like a fool as we each ate raw fish, which was like a home-cooked meal compared to seagull.
"This is how the Japanese eat fish, raw." I said as we all four sat in a square.
"If you ask me, it's not food until you cook it." Louie said sitting across from me.
"Little lemon, little garlic.. When we get home, come around my house. Mama will cook for you." Louie said and I smiled.
"As if I've never had your mothers cooking." I smirked and he chuckled as he looked at the ground-- or floor of the little yellow raft we were huddled in.
"You remember that story in LIFE magazine?" Phil asked as we all turned our attention towards him.
"About Eddie Rickenbacker? Him and his crew ran out of fuel over the Pacific. They were drifting in rafts for 24 days. Twenty-four days." Phil repeated himself as I slightly shook my head.
"They made it, right?" I looked over at Phil.
"Yeah, but, most of them lost their minds." He said, "But they made it." He tried to reassure my wavering faith.
"We gotta keep talking. Gotta keep our minds sharp." Louie said and we all nodded.
"Hey, I'll tell you what else you're gonna love." Louie smiled at the three of us.
