Little Toy Guns

I'm back! I missed you guys!

Lily Marie Dragneel sits in the closet her knees pulled up to her chest quietly crying. Mom and dad were fighting again. They've been doing this for a while. She's worried they might say something they'll regret. She tries to distract herself by a humming a song. Anything really. Suddenly she remembers one of your favorite songs. She slowly begins to stutter out the lyrics.

In between the coats in the closet
She held on to that heart shaped locket
Staring at a family flawless
But it ain't a pretty picture tonight
Mom and daddy just won't stop it
Fightin' at the drop of the faucet
Cuts through the walls catastrophic
She's caught in the crossfire

She coughs and shakes. She didn't realize how this song could affect her. She tries to ignore your yelling.

"IF YOU DON'T CARE, THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!?" You scream. Lily flinches, covers her ears, and begins to sing quietly.

Puts her hands over her ears
Starts talking through the tears
She's saying, she's praying.

No sting, no hurt no one, just a bang bang

Yeah, no smoke, no bullets
No kick from the trigger when you pull it, no pain, no damage done

She slowly uncovers her as Natsu screams back at you.

"MAYBE IF YOU WEREN'T SUCH A WHINY BITCH, WE WOULDN'T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS!" Natsu screams. Lily let's a loud sob. She reaches for her journal, hands shaking. Carefully she writes her feelings down, tears dripping onto the page. She reaches up to her necklace she received from you when she turned 7. She peeked her head out, when she heard the screaming cease, only to flinch and tank her head back in when you come back full force, even louder than before. She curls up and begins to shakily continue the song.

Wish there was a white flag waving
Or that they were both just faking
And it was just a game they were playing
Like shoot'em up cowboys
Leave the plastic pistols in the front yard
Throw away the score card
And just turn off all the noise.

Lily digs through her closets and finds her stuffed giraffe, that she got when she was first born. She hugs it tightly to her chest and listens to you and Natsu scream. She lays down and covers her ears. She continues to sing louder this time, block out the noise.

Finally when she thinks it's over she hears you scream.

"I WANT A DIVORCE!" Lily takes a shaky breath, before she completely breaks. She cries and wails, doubting you can hear her over your screaming. After a few minutes of crying she pulls herself together long enough to finish.

Oh like little toy guns. She breaths out.
